Google has finally taken the wrap off the Android Q beta and has opened up the registration to enroll your Google Pixel. This is the first release of the beta software for Android Q so is naturally filled with bugs ready for developers to report to make it ready for the prime time. As these bugs get closed, Google will publish additional builds of Android Q slowly refining each beta release.
Alongside the first beta of Android Q, Google has released the timeline that shows when we can expect the various builds of the software progressing towards the public release. This year, there will be six beta releases before the stable release is issued to the public, which will be roughly in the third quarter of 2019.
Below you can see the milestones when to expect each beta release of Android Q.
- Beta 1 (initial release, beta, March 13, 2019)
- Beta 2 (incremental update, beta, early April 2019)
- Beta 3 (incremental update, beta, early May 2019, debut at Google I/O)
- Beta 4 (final APIs and official SDK, Play publishing, beta, early June 2019)
- Beta 5 (release candidate for testing Q3 2019)
- Beta 6 (release candidate for final testing Q3 2019)
- Final release to AOSP and ecosystem (Q3 2019)
It goes without saying that the timeline is subject to change as timescales may be pushed depending on what bugs are found for the beta testing. However, it does provide a rough estimate on the public release for Android Q, and at least how many releases there will be to countdown.
