There is no disputing that as much as you might dislike Apple, their tablets remain pretty much the king of all tablets. Others such as Google have attempted to take Apple on at their own game through Nexus and Pixel tablets in the past, but even the most ardent Google fan has to concede that Google's tablets haven't exactly been flying off the shelves.
It seems that Google could have also come to that conclusion because in a report from Business Insider, the company has told dozens of its employees from their laptop and tablet divisions to find jobs in other parts of the company. This is part of the "Create" division which has been responsible for devices like the Pixelbook laptop and the Pixel Slate tablet.
It is unclear as to why Google is reshuffling its employees (perhaps they read our article and took us seriously), but this does raise some questions on the future of some of Google's own hardware. The report also claims that the division apparently had a bunch of devices in the works, but if the reshuffles were to happen, there is a good chance that those devices might never see the light of day.
That being said, it isn't all doom and gloom because Google is asking those employees to seek out temporary positions (as opposed to permanent ones). This suggests that Google could later revert their decision, but that remains to be seen.
Google has in the past not been shy about taking the axe to products that haven't been doing well, so it wouldn't be a complete shocker if the company were to call it quits on its tablets and laptops.
