These days it is becoming increasingly rare to see a smartphone that isn't powered by a Qualcomm chipset, although from time to time we might come across a phone using MediaTek's chipset. Samsung also makes their own chipsets in the form of the Exynos series, but those are almost never seen outside of Samsung's own phones.
That is expected to change in the near future, according to a report from XDA Developers where based on information provided to them by their source, Motorola has a new smartphone in the works that could be powered by Samsung's Exynos chipset. This phone is said to come in the form of the Motorola One Vision, an Android One handset.
According to the leaked specs:
- Exynos 9610 chipset
- 3/4GB of RAM
- 32/64/128GB of onboard storage
- 3,500mAh battery
- 12MP rear-facing camera
- 12MP front-facing shooter
Unfortunately there was no information on how big the phone's display could be, but XDA was sent a wallpaper that allegedly belongs to the handset and based on that, it was revealed that the phone might have a resolution of 2520×1080. This means that we could be looking at an aspect ratio of 21:9.
This would make it similar to Sony's recently launched Xperia handsets which also sports an identical aspect ratio. Some might find it a bit strange as it would make it a "tall" display, like a remote control.
This is actually not the first time that we've heard about the Motorola One Vision. Renders from 2018 have shown us what we might be able to expect. There is no telling when the phone might actually launch, but hopefully, it will be soon.
