LG Watch W7 to debut alongside the LG V40

If you've been waiting for a new Wear OS smartwatch from LG, we have some good news for you. Evan Blass has just shared that the rumored LG Watch Timepiece will launch alongside the LG V40 as the LG Watch W7.

As detailed in earlier leaks, the LG Watch W7 is expected to be identical to the LG Watch Timepiece — a hybrid watch running Wear OS while also featuring traditional mechanical watch hands to tell time. Originally, the watch was set to launch this past spring, but the device was never unveiled. The LG Watch Timepiece (which we will now refer to as the Watch W7) measures in at 45.5 x 45.4 x 12.9 mm which is bigger than the LG Watch Style, but still smaller than the LG Watch Sport. The 240 mAh will provide up to 100 days of battery life when "Watch Mode" is enabled and roughly 100 hours of battery life when Wear OS is fully enabled. The main watch face will be displayed on a 1.2-inch (360 x 360 pixels) LCD display and the body of the phone will be wrapped in stainless steel with IP68 dust and water resistance.

The leak from April claimed that the LG Watch W7 would feature 768MB of LPDDR3 RAM and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 2100, but there's a chance that the process could be upgraded to the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 which was unveiled earlier this month. There's no evidence to back up this claim, but it could be the reason why LG chose to delay the launch of the smartwatch in the first place.

The LG Watch W7 is said to come with a basic 22mm silicone rubber strap, but users will be able to swap it out for any 22mm band of their choice. Rumor has it that LG is also planning a special edition of the watch which will come with a metal band and a special charging cradle for the Watch W7.

Now that we know LG has a new launch date scheduled for the LG Watch W7, we expect to see a few more leaks trickle in before the Wear OS smartwatch is officially unveiled alongside the LG V40 next month.

Pixel 3 XL hands-on video shows off Google’s upcoming flagship smartphone

It seems we can't go a single day without a new Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL leak. This time around, the leak is actually a hands-on video from Rozetked, a Russian publication which shared a lot of pictures and details about the Pixel 3 XL a while back.

The Pixel 3 XL hands-on video gives us a detailed look at the phone's hardware, showing it off from multiple angles while giving us only a few glimpses at the phone's software. While there aren't really any new details revealed in the new video, we're sure that many of you will still be happy to see how the phone looks in the hand.

Our main takeaway is that the large notch at the top of the display isn't really as bad is it looks in all the leaked pictures that we've seen so far. We'd prefer that the notch wasn't as deep or that it wasn't there at all, but it doesn't change the way that the phone works and will likely go unnoticed after a few days of using the phone.

The launch of the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL is still more than 10 days off, but we suspect we'll see a few more leaks before Google officially unveils the two devices. The most recent leaks have revealed the phone's wireless charging dock, the new Pixel 3 animated wallpapers and the pricing for the two phones. We still don't know when the Pixel 3's retail launch date will be, which countries the phone will be available in or a definitive list of US carrier partners, so there's still plenty more that can be revealed before now and October 9th.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro leak reveals crazy new smartphone technology

This year's fall smartphone release cycle looks to be just as exciting at the spring. The upcoming Huawei Mate 20 will likely be one of the most popular devices in Europe and Asia and according to the latest leak, larger Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be packed with new technology which we've yet to see in other smartphones.

The Leak

The new Huawei Mate 20 Pro leak appears to be from slides taken from an internal presentation of Huawei's new phones, confirming that the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will both be powered by the new Kirin 980 SoC. The base model will feature a 6.53-inch flat screen, 4GB of RAM and a 4,000 mAh battery while the Mate 20 Pro will come with a 6.9-inch curved display, 6GB of RAM and a 4,200 mAh battery. With the launch of the two devices, Huawei will also be rolling out an upgraded version of its Supercharge technology which will deliver a 70% charge to the Mate 20 Pro's 4,200 mAh battery in 30 minutes thanks to its new 15W charging speed.

One the camera front, the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro will both feature a triple camera setup on the back. The Mate 20's 24MP sensor setup will likely replicate what is available on the Huawei P20 Pro while the Mate 20 Pro will swap out the 2X zoom lens for an ultra-wide-angle lens – similar to what the LG G7 offers.

As we saw in the last Huawei Mate 20 Pro leak, the phone will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, but the smaller Mate 20 will still have a fingerprint sensor located on the back of the phone. Huawei's also touting the capabilities of the Mate 20 Pro's 3D Face Unlock feature which it claims will be 50% faster than Apple's Face Unlock.

The most interesting slide in the presentation is the new Bone Voice ID feature which will allow users to use their voice to unlock the phone. In combination with proprietary headphones, the phone would be able to validate the user's voice through bone conduction. We're not sure how secure this new security feature will be, but it's exciting to see a new option being thrown into the mix.

Huawei's Desktop Mode which allows you to use the phone as a desktop computer by simply connecting it to an external monitor with a USB-C to HDMI cable appears to be getting a wireless upgrade. It's not clear if Huawei will the feature would require a proprietary dongle of if it would be compatible with some of the wireless display technologies like WiDi. Therese's also a reference to Nano SD card support. Huawei's devices would feature support up to 256GB cards, allowing them to save space on the inside of the phones.

Last but not least is the price points of the two devices. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro will sell for NIS 4,000 ($1,108), and the smaller Mate 20 will have a sticker price of NIS 3,000 ($831).

Our Take

We have to admit that there's a lot to digest in this latest leak. The first half is pretty underwhelming with specs that most of us were expecting. But things get a little questionable halfway through once the Bone Voice ID, Wireless Desktop Mode and Nano SD card details are introduced, butting the whole leak into question.

While some of the slides look like they could come directly from Huawei, more than a few of them look like they were hacked together with images from the web and other phone presentation slides. And you'll also notice that the phone images used in the slide don't look like the Mate 20 Pro leaks we've recently seen.

The Bone Voice ID feature sounds pretty intriguing, but the graphics on the slide are sketchy at best. The image of the ear canal and voice waves appear to be pulled directly from the web with no real explanation as to how the feature actually works.

A Wireless Desktop Mode is totally feasible, so we have no issues with that detail, but the Nano SD card support is quite preposterous. Nano SD cards simply aren't a thing. MicroSD cards are already incredibly small, so there's really not much to gain by introducing a new smaller format. If you do a web search for Nano SD, you won't find any references for the card format or news articles about when it is expected to come out.

Based on what we know about the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, we're inclined only to believe the first half of this leak. It would be amazing if Huawei introduced the other features when the two devices are unveiled in October, but we won't be surprised if we never hear about them again.

LG V40 ThinQ design officially unveiled

LG has officially pulled back the curtain, unveiling the design of the LG V40 ThinQ. As we've already seen from the leaks, the LG V40 features a total of five cameras — thee on the back and two on the front. In the official LG V40 ThinQ video, the company highlights the five cameras, along with the "touch, color, and molding" of the phone, emphasizing its "beauty that shows purity and cleanliness." The reinforced glass on the back of the phone has been sandblasted to give it a "silky feel" which also helps keep scratches, dirt and fingerprints at bay. In contrast, the metal frame that wraps around the edges of the phone is treated with glitter to give it an extra sheen. Color options for the LG V40 ThinQ include New Platinum Gray, Carmine Red, and Morokan Blue.

LG doesn't go into detail regarding the specifications of the phone, but it does confirm that it features a 6.4 inches display while keeping the width of the V40 identical to last year's V30. For official word on the phone's other specs, we'll have to wait until the LG V40's October 3 launch event.

Leak Pixel 3 wireless charging stand press photo shows off its design

There have been a few leaks which have highlighted the upcoming Pixel 3's wireless charging capabilities. While we've known about the phone's new feature, we really haven't seen what the Pixel 3's Wireless Charging Stand actually looks like. That all changed today with a new leak, a press shot of the bottom side of the stand.

Like most other wireless charging stands Google's take on the Pixel 3 accessory doesn't look like anything special. The back panel of the stand is oval-shaped which is connected to a circular plate. The image shows that the bottom of the bottom side of the stand is orange with a USB C connection which fits in through the back. You can also make out the text on the bottom of the charger which reveals the dock's products number (G019C) and that it's capable of charging the Pixel 3 at 18W (9V/2A).

A previous Pixel 3 Wireless Charging Dock leak showed that the phone will change the way that it displays content when it's on the dock. While docked, the Pixel 3's UI will feature larger buttons for quick access to music, phone, Google Assistant and other core features and larger notifications for easier interaction. What's not yet clear is if Google will make this new UI into Android or keep it for itself as a Pixel-only feature.

Are you excited that the Pixel 3 will feature wireless charging?

Customize your smartphone with the new Pixel 3 wallpapers

The countdown to the Pixel 3's official debut is slowly ticking away, but it looks like the leaks just keep on coming. Thanks to MySmartPrice, we now have a collection of new wallpapers which will be included on the Pixel 3.

Like last year's Pixel 2, the new Pixel 3 wallpapers include quite a few Live Wallpapers with beautifully-subtle animations. If you want the Pixel 3 Live Wallpapers on your device, you'll need a smartphone running Android Pie. We've managed to get the APK working on the Pixel 2 and the OnePlus 6, but the installation has failed on a  half-dozen other Android Phone running Android Oreo. You can download the wallpapers individually from the images below or grab them all at once from Google Drive.

SanDisk has just rolled out one of the best sales we've seen in a long time! For one day only, SanDisk has slashed the price of nearly its entire storage product portfolio by up to 65%. If you've been holding off for better prices on a high-capacity microSD card (400GB microSD card for $99 – 60% off) for your smartphone, a faster SSD for your laptop (512GB USB-C SSD for $97.99 – 39% off) or a smart USB stick (200GB Connect Wireless Stick for $55.99 – 53% off), now's the time to buy!

Adding extra storage directly to your smartphone is always a great option, but we highly recommend SanDisk's Connect Wireless Stick. It works as a standard USB stick for your laptop, but it also allows you to access its content over WiFi. This means you can open files or even watch videos on your device from a USB stick that's in your pocket or backpack. It'll even allow you to stream video and music to a Chromecast capable device.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro leak shows off design and new details

The fall smartphone cycle is getting more interesting by the day. The upcoming Huawei Mate 20 Pro has been fully revealed in a handful of leaked images which give us a good look at the front and back of the device. The images show that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro sports a substantial notch which houses the front-facing camera, speaker and other sensors. The device doesn't appear to have a secondary camera up front or an IR sensor which would provide more secure facial recognition. The display itself is said to feature a 6.3-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Powering the Huawei Mate 20 is the newly-announced 7 nanometer Kirin 980 with eight ARM Cortex-A55 and Cortex-A76 cores arranged is three clusters. The camera module on the back feature three sensors and an LED flash which are arranged in a square. Very little is known about the details of the three camera sensors, but the image prominently features the Leica logo which means we should expect something similar to what we got with the Huawei P20 Pro.

The images show that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be available in at least three different colors. THe main color appears to resemble the multi-color option of the P20 Pro, but there's also a diagonally-striped and a black option as well.

As for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro's release date, the company has scheduled a press event in London for October 16 with a possible retail launch set for late October. The phone will be available across most of Europe and Asia, but it's still not clear if the phone will be making it to the US.

Leak showing OnePlus 6T photos is a fake

With the launch of the OnePlus 6T set for October, the leaks have become a lot more prevalent as of late. OnePlus has shared a few official details about the phone and we've seen quite a few legitimate leaks. Unfortunately, there are people who doctor up their own leaks for the chance at two minutes of fame.

The latest OnePlus 6T leak is exactly that. A new post on Weibo shows four photos of a phone which looks to be the OnePlus 6T. While the post doesn't actually claim that the device in question is the next OnePlus phone, the teardrop-shaped notch and the Never Settle wallpaper on the lock screen imply that the device is, in fact, the OnePlus 6T. But it's not.

The tell-tale sign that gives it away is the lock screen shown in all the images. While there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the lock screen, it just doesn't match the UI OnePlus has been using for its phones. In fact, the lock screen is identical to that of the Oppo R17 which also sports a teardrop notch on its display. If you look closer, you'll also notice that the narrow pill-shaped battery icon on its side is a one-to-one match for the battery icon on the Oppo R17. On top of that, the images also show a 3.5mm headphone jack cutout in the display at the bottom of the phone. In an interview with TechRadar, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei stated that the company would not be including the headphone jack on the OnePlus 6T.

Suffice to say, there's nothing here to indicate that these photos are the upcoming OnePlus 6T. Multiple rumors have claimed that the OnePlus 6T and the Oppo R17 will share the same overall design. This isn't at all surprising since a few OnePlus devices have shared the same overall design with flagship Oppo phones over the years. There's a very good chance that the OnePlus 6T will be indistinguishable from the photos we see here, but we'll just have to wait a bit longer for real-world photos of the device.

Pixel 3 price revealed by premature retail listing

With the launch of the Pixel 3 scheduled for October 9th, the price of Google's new phone has been the one detail that's been most elusive. Thankfully, a retail listing for the Pixel 3 popped up on JD.com with a list price of 4,999 RMB or $730 USD.

Last year's Pixel 2 sold for $649 in the US. While the $730 price point may seem a bit high, that's only because Google's Pixel phones are typically priced a bit higher in China than they are here in the US. The Pixel 2's Chinese pricing was set at 4,485 RMB ($705 USD), so we expect the pricing variation between the US and China will result in the Pixel 3 making its debut with a $650-$700 price tag in the US.

The Pixel 3 listing on JD.com also contained a few press images of the Pixel 3 and the larger Pixel 3XL. As of right now, there has been no indication as to what the price of the Pixel 3 XL will be. A few rumors have suggested that its price will be substantially higher than last year's Pixel 2 XL which started at $849. Due to the phone's larger display, we're expecting the Pixel 3 XL's base price to increase to $900, but with a number of flagship-tier smartphones selling for $1000 or more, Google might be tempted to list the Pixel 3 XL at $999.

How much are you willing to pay for the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL?

Leaked OnePlus 6T image debunks triple-camera rumors

A lot of people are eagerly awaiting the launch of the OnePlus 6T. The phone isn't expected to be more powerful than the wildly-successful OnePlus 6, but rumors have claimed that the phone would feature an improved camera setup with a total of three sensors on the back of the phone. Unfortunately, a new image of the OnePlus 6T has leaked, revealing that the phone will only sport two rear camera sensors. Of course, every rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, but at this point, we're not sure which rumor to believe. At least the image in question doesn't show a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor since OnePlus has officially stated that the phone will feature an in-display sensor.

Aligning the OnePlus 6T leaked image with that of the OnePlus 6 shows that the new device will either be slightly taller than the previous model or its camera module will be positioned slightly lower. Either way, cases for the OnePlus 6 will likely not fit the OnePlus 6T, especially since cases for the upcoming device will not feature a fingerprint cutout on the back.

Is the lack of a triple-camera module on the OnePlus 6T a deal breaker for you? Share your thoughts in the comments.
