Instagram is finally testing a feature for videos that should have been there years ago

When we watch videos and want to skip forwards or backwards, we just go to the seek bar and scrub our way through it to get to the point we want. That's a very basic video feature that any video player worth its salt will usually offer, but for some reason, Instagram has neglected to introduce the feature to its app.

If you've used Instagram long enough, you know how frustrating it can be when watching videos. This is because you can't rewind a particular moment without having to restart the entire video. That is set to change because in a discovery made by researcher Jane Manchun Wong, she found that Instagram is testing out a seek bar for videos posted to the user's profile.

We should clarify that Instagram already has a seek bar, but that's only for videos posted to IGTV. Regular videos posted to your profile or viewed on your feed does not feature a seek bar, and neither do videos shared to Stories. Right now it appears that Instagram is testing the feature for videos posted to the feed, but it is unclear when the feature is expected to be released for all.

We also can't be sure if the final version will look like it does in the video below, so we'll just have to wait and see.

As we said, it does seem like a very basic feature that Instagram should have rolled out a long time ago and we don't know what has taken them this long, but better late than never, right?
