Leaked OnePlus 8 Pro specs and renders are a bit underwhelming

The OnePlus 8 is expected to be announced soon. We have heard various rumors and seen several leaks, but it looks like there will be no more surprises. This is according to a report from iGeeksBlog who teamed up with @OnLeaks to share what are alleged renders of the upcoming handset, along with full specs of the OnePlus 8 Pro.

Now, if the rumors are to be believed, and based on the company's past releases, there will be a OnePlus 8 and a "Pro" version. According to the leaked specs, we're looking at features like a 6.78-inch edge-to-edge AMOLED display (which we have also heard could sport a 120Hz refresh rate).

Under the hood, the phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset which means that we can also expect 5G connectivity. There will also be options to choose between 8GB or 12GB of RAM, along with 128GB or 256GB of storage, but there is no mention of whether or not it will support memory expansion via a microSD card.

As for the cameras, the renders suggest a quad-camera setup on the back which includes two 48MP sensors for its standard and ultra-wide cameras, along with an 8MP camera and a 5MP sensor whose purposes have yet to be determined. The front of the phone will sport a single 16MP selfie camera which will peek through the display rather than using the pop-up mechanism we saw on last year's OnePlus 7 Pro.

Other features also include a 4,510mAh battery with wireless charging (finally), and also an IP68 rating which should make the phone water-resistant. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but with a rumored launch set for the 15th of April, we won't have to wait much longer to get all the official details.

While the specs of the upcoming phone are in line with other flagship devices we've seen in 2020, there's nothing that really stands out. Compared to last year's 7 Pro, this phone feels a bit underwhelming.
