The Google Pixel 4 was a bit of a controversial device. The tiny battery, lack of ultrawide camera, and massive forehead with the mostly useless motion sensing tech really made a lot of people, including Pixel fans, unhappy. Still, it's a solid device at a flagship price.
What we're looking forward to is the upcoming Pixel 4a, a budget-oriented version of the phone that makes a few sacrifices to get to a lower price point. Last year's Pixel 3a made sacrifices in all the right places, still providing awesome software, a great camera, and precise haptics at a low price.
A prototype of the Pixel 4a has leaked, and it shows off some interesting info. Horrible smudging aside (let's hope the finish is better on the final product), we get to see that square camera bump taken from the Pixel 4 but shrunken to fit a single camera. With most budget phones rocking two or even three cameras, seeing only one is greatly disappointing. We can also see the hole punch in the corner of the display, hopefully indicating some thin modern bezels.
These photos line up with previous leaks and give us a good look at what we can expect to see from Google in the future. And with the lack of extra cameras, it's exactly what we expect from the company.
