The new HTC Wildfire X isn’t actually an HTC

There's a new HTC smartphone heading to India. The device in question looks like most of HTC's other budget smartphones, but the new HTC Wildfire X isn't really an HTC product at all. The phone is actually built by InOne Smart Technology and the HTC Wildfire name was simply licensed from HTC. For those of you who are not familiar with InOne Smart Technology, the company currently sells budget-friendly smartphones under its Lava Brand in India and a few other countries.

The Lava brand isn't as big of a player as it used to be since Huawei and Xiaomi have dominated the Indian marketplace when they moved in a few years ago. By licensing the HTC brand InOne is hoping to make the Wildfire X more visible, possibly allowing them to sell more units than if the phone carried the Lava name. HTC has not revealed any details regarding its licensing agreement with InOne, but the company should be making at least a few dollars for every HTC Wildfire X that sells. The HTC Wildfire is competitively priced, but there is quite a bit of competition in the Indian market within the budget smartphone segment. It'll be interesting to see how the HTC Wildfire X plays out for both HTC and InOne.

HTC Wildfire X specifications

When it comes to the specs, the HTC Wildfire X isn't going to be revolutionary in any way. The phone is equipped with a 6.22-inch HD+ (1520 x 720) IPS LCD display featuring a teardrop notch its 8MP front-facing camera, a MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762) SoC, 3GB of RAM paired with 32GB of storage or 4GB of RAM with 128GB, a microSD card slot, and a 3,300 mAh battery. On paper, the rear camera actually looks impressive with a 12MP main sensors, 8MP secondary sensor wit ha 2x zoom lens and a third 5MP sensor to capture depth information.

Pricing & Availability

The HTC Wildfire X is being launched as a Flipkart-exclusive in India. The starting price is set at ₹9,999 ($140) for the 3GB/32GB model while the upgraded 4GB/128GB model is listed at ₹12,999 ($183).
