Samsung Galaxy Fold pre-registration page is now live

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Fold was supposed to be a few months ago, but with Samsung opting to go back to the drawing board to revisit its design and also to address certain build quality issues, it has resulted in the phone being delayed. Samsung has since confirmed that the handset will be released in September, but no dates have been specified yet.

The good news is that it looks like we could be getting close because it appears that the pre-registration page for the Galaxy Fold has gone live over in China. What this means is that users who are interested in the handset can register their interest and be notified of its availability. Note that this isn't to pre-order the phone, it's more about showing interest.

The page has yet to go live in North America, but if it's live in China, we assume that it should eventually find its way stateside.

The Galaxy Fold will be the first foldable phone from a mainstream consumer brand. In case you didn't know, a company by the name of Flexpai was actually the first to release a phone with a foldable display. It hasn't really gained much traction since its launch, so here's hoping the Galaxy Fold will fare better.

Huawei is also expected to launch their own foldable phone, although based on the reports we've heard so far, chances are it will probably be released around November at the earliest.
