Gmail is the latest app to get the lightweight “Go” treatment

In the last year, Google has released "Go" versions for a lot of their popular services. These lightweight versions are targeted towards smartphones with less than 1 GB of RAM. Currently, Google has Go apps for YouTube, Gboard, and Google Assistant. The latest to get this treatment is Gmail.

Gmail Go looks surprisingly similar to the full Gmail app and it has a lot of the same great features. Anyone can download the APK and give it a try, but it's only officially available in the Play Store for a handful of countries. Small tweaks, such as loading images on demand, allow it to run faster and use less RAM.

If you'd like to try out a slimmed down version of Gmail to save data or make your battery last longer, download the APK right here. Just sideload it like you would for any other app.
