One of the main problems with the Essential Phone at launch was the camera. It was almost universally panned for being the weak point in an otherwise great phone. To Essential's credit, they have been working hard on improving the camera through software updates. The latest update brings Auto HDR Mode to the phone.
We just released an update to Essential Camera App that adds Auto-HDR, a new HDR algorithm that improves camera performance and scene rendering, dynamic HDR and Flash indicators, and various stability fixes. Download it here: https://t.co/zXoZ765GHF pic.twitter.com/sxLcHEHJ5n

The update to the camera app includes Auto HDR, a new HDR algorithm, dynamic HDR, and flash indicators. HDR is a big part of what makes the Pixel cameras so great. The Essential camera needs all the help it can get and HDR should be a nice addition. The version for this update is 0.1.096.003. It should be available in the Play Store right now.
