Last week, Amazon announced that it would be removing the lock screen ads for its "Prime Exclusive" lineup. This would result in a $20 price "hike" for this lineup of devices, but those who already purchased these devices were kind of left in the dark.
An option that not everyone may have been aware of was that you could actually pay Amazon to remove these ads from your device, to the tune of about $45. With its decision to remove the ads from devices in the Prime Exclusive lineup, Amazon is now sending emails to owners of these devices stating that refunds will be issued.

In an email provided to Android Police, Amazon will be issuing refunds to owners in the "2-3 business days", but there's a bit of a catch. Instead of receiving a refund back to your bank account, the refund will be issued to your Amazon account. This means that you'll be limited to using that refund to buy even more stuff on Amazon.
Of course, this isn't a huge deal for those who love shopping on Amazon, especially with all of the deals that are constantly taking place. Nonetheless, a refund is a refund, and it's a great gesture to see Amazon make this move to help appease folks who have already paid to remove the annoying lock-screen ads from Prime Exclusive devices.
