The NVIDIA Shield TV was released all the way back in 2015, while the latest model was unveiled over two and a half years ago in early 2017. Even though it's old, it's still a very popular choice when it comes to Android TV boxes due to its versatility and power.
However, it looks like we're finally going to be seeing another update to this device. A new Shield TV has passed through the FCC under the title "NVIDIA Corporation SHIELD Android TV game Console P3430." No details were given other than a processor, which is labeled "Tegra X1 T210 B01."
This Tegra X1 T210 B01 seems to be an update to the T210 used in the current Shield TV. The Nintendo Switch was recently refreshed with a Tegra X1 T214, so it's not likely to be the new Switch processor, but it could be related since they're both variants of the X1 family.
A bit more power and efficiency will be a welcome update, but we hope to see improved peripherals as well. it will sure help sell the media boxes at a time where many smart features are already built into every TV.
