It wasn't too long ago that Huawei's future seemed rather bleak thanks to an ongoing trade war between the US and China, which resulted in Huawei being placed on the US Entity List, essentially preventing them from doing business with US companies. Now it looks like Samsung could also end up being a victim of a trade war, except that this time it is between Japan and Korea.
Both countries share a tumultuous history with each other, although for the most part, things have appeared somewhat cordial on the surface, but that changed in recent times resulting in Japan placing a ban on exports to Korea. Given that companies such as Samsung rely pretty heavily on sourcing materials and components from Japan, this has led to speculation that the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 could be delayed as a result.
This is because of materials such as fluorinated polyimide, hydrogen fluoride, and resists, all of which are used to make components such as their chipsets and also their displays. If Samsung is unable to source enough material, it could lead to a shortage in components which could either result in a massive backlog of orders or a delay.
We should point out that there is no guarantee that Samsung will be affected because it is possible that they might have stocked up enough materials prior to this, or might have contingency plans in place, but it's something to keep an eye out for. In the meantime, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has been scheduled for an official launch on the 7th of August.
