After releasing the Android Q Beta update yesterday for the Pixel lineup, Google was forced to hit the abort button after numerous users reported that the installation of the update resulted in boot loop issues. The main device hit with the issue was the Pixel 2 XL, but some Pixel 3 users also chimed in with the same issue. For now, Google has halted the Android Q Beta 4 update for all Pixel devices to investigate and identify the root cause of the issue.
The good news is that those who did experience the boot loop issue were able to easily recover from the issue due to Android's new A/B partition system which is used when installing updates. Unfortunately, we don't know how long it'll be until Android Q Beta 4 goes back online for Pixel users. The update is still live for the Essential PH1, so we're assuming that there shouldn't be any issues for the 20 or so other AAndroid devices which are participating in the Android Q Beta program.
We're aware of an issue with Android Q Beta 4 related to installing updates. We've temporarily paused Beta 4 OTA updates to all Pixel devices as we investigate the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience, and will provide an update once the issue is resolved.
