Sony Xperia XZ4 could have a 21:9 display

Last week benchmark scores surfaced showing that the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ4 could be quite a powerful device, where it showed that it had the potential to be more powerful compared to other handsets like the iPhone Xs and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Now thanks to additional information from Ice Universe, we are getting a better idea of what to expect from the handset.

According to the tweet by the leakster, he claims to have gotten his hands on what appears to be the tempered film for the Xperia XZ4's display. We have no way of confirming if the tempered film is the real deal, but based on his findings it seems that the phone could potentially sport a display with an aspect ratio of 21:9.

This would be a change in design compared to Sony's use of 2:1 displays in its 2018 smartphones. Additional measurements have also revealed that the display could be around 15.2cm in length, which puts it pretty close to the iPhone Xs Max in terms of dimensions. It also makes the phone appear skinnier compared to its predecessors, which might be a good thing if you wanted something you could operate using just one hand.

Ice Universe has also managed to put together a video that demonstrates how a 21:9 display could be like watching videos, which we have to say looks pretty good as it stretches from edge to edge and does not have the ugly vertical black bars on the sides. Take these leaks with a grain of salt, but hopefully Sony might have something to show at CES 2019.
