In recent times we've seen speed tests in which Apple's iPhone XS Max gets put up against its Android competitors, only to blow them away at each and every turn. This is despite the fact that the iPhone XS Max has significantly less RAM compared to what most flagship Android smartphones are packing.
This seems to suggest that maybe having more RAM might not necessarily make it better, but could faster RAM be a better idea? Quality over quantity, right? If a recent rumor is to be believed, then yes, it seems that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 could use LPDDR5 RAM that will make it about 1.5x faster than current speeds, with an increased transfer rate of 51.2GB of data per second.
In fact, the idea of Samsung potentially using these faster RAM modules isn't much of a stretch. Back in 2018, Samsung unveiled what they called the industry's first 8GB LPDDR5 DRAM components, so for the company to use it for their own devices actually makes a lot of sense. It would make less sense if they weren't using it.
Based on the rumors we've heard, the Galaxy S10 could indeed be packing at least 8GB of RAM, an increase over the Galaxy S9 which had 4GB of RAM (the Galaxy S9+ has 6GB). As always, take these leaks and rumors with a grain of salt, but remember to check back with us next month on the 20th of February which is when Samsung will be officially announcing its new smartphones.
