Nokia 9 PureView still be on track for late January launch

The Nokia 9 PureView is a phone that we are very excited about. Nokia's brand is one that many are familiar with, especially from way back in the day of the feature phone when the company was already experimenting with various crazy camera ideas. This is expected to come full circle, quite literally, with the Nokia 9 PureView and its penta-camera setup.

Now according to a report, the handset in question is still on track for a launch later this month, where it will be making its official debut late January. No specific dates are mentioned but since we're almost towards the middle of the month, it only means a couple of weeks left of waiting to see if this particular rumor pans out.

The handset was initially planned for a launch in 2018 but that obviously did not work out. The phone was also tipped to be sporting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, and unfortunately, that rumor appears to still be holding true. Now we aren't thumbing our noses at the Snapdragon 845, it is a powerful chipset, but for a phone launching in 2019, many are expecting to see the Snapdragon 855, especially for customers looking to futureproof their purchases for as long as possible.

For those who can wait, a 5G, Snapdragon 855 successor variant of Nokia's phone has been rumored to launch in the later part of the year. However the choice of chipset aside, we imagine that the focus will be on the penta-camera design where it will be interesting to see how it will be utilized, and whether or not it will be able to offer up better quality images compared to a triple or dual camera design.

We have also heard claims that the phone could cost between 749 to 799 euros, which while technically not cheap, could possibly make it one of the more affordable flagships for 2019.
