Google Maps speed limit feature is rolling out to more users

A couple of years ago, Google Maps rolled out a speed limit feature for its app. It was an extremely limited roll out as it basically covered the San Francisco Bay Area in California and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, but it looks like Google has since decided to start rolling out the feature in more areas.

User report from various parts of the US are claiming that they are now starting to see the speed limit feature in their apps. These reports come from places like New York City, Los Angeles, and Minnesota. We imagine that there may be more but these are the ones that are reported right now. Let us know in the comments if you're seeing it too.

This appears to be server-side enabled as there haven't been any updates to Google Maps recently, nor does it appear to be location-specific either (or if it is we can't see a pattern). For those unfamiliar with the feature, it lets drivers know what the speed limit is on the roads that they are currently driving.

It is entirely up to the driver to decide if they want to adhere to these limits, but the information is there anyway. Google had previously issued an update that would show where speed trap cameras would be hidden, so combine it with this speed limit feature, in theory, you should never get pulled over for going over the speed limit with all these tools available at your disposal.
