One of the features of Samsung's smartphones is its displays which curve slightly around the edge of the phone. This design has since been adopted by other handset makers, but in the future, it is possible that these displays could wrap around even further, at least that's what patent discovered by Patently Mobile suggests.
According to the patent's drawing (see below), Samsung has created a display that can wrap even further around the edge of the phone, possibly encompassing it entirely. As it stands, the display on Samsung's phones kind of stop short because of the need for physical buttons, but the patent now suggests that the buttons themselves have been incorporated into the display and are hidden behind it.
We're not exactly sure how it will work, but it sounds like users will be able to press the buttons through the display itself, although we're not sure if this is a good idea since it could result in the display getting damaged. It is, however, an intriguing design and could be a way to create a smartphone without any physical buttons sticking out from its sides.
That being said, with this being a patent, there is no guarantee that it will become a reality. Ideally we would love to see it make its way into a future Samsung handset, like the Galaxy Note 20, but we're not holding our breath.
