Google warns against sideloading its Android apps on newer Huawei devices

As many of you are aware, Huawei is currently facing legal issues with the US government in which they have been placed on the US government's Entity List. This effectively prevents Huawei from doing business with US companies and vice versa. As a result, newer Huawei devices starting from last year's Mate 30 series actually do not come with Google Play Services installed.

Now, some of you might think that you can get around this by sideloading Google apps onto Huawei's phones, but Google thinks that it is a bad idea and they are asking users not to do it. According to a post made on the Android Help Community website, Google was quoted as saying:

"Because of the government restrictions described above, new Huawei device models made available to the public after May 16, 2019 have not been able to go through this security process nor will they have Play Protect preloaded. As a result, they are considered "uncertified," and will not be able to utilize Google's apps and services."

While it is possible for users to sideload Google apps onto Huawei devices, Google warns that even if they are sideloaded, they might not work as intended or as reliably as you would like. This is due to the fact that because Huawei's newer devices are uncertified, certain functions of the apps might be limited or unavailable.

Google also warns that sideloading apps could pose a security risk because since their source is not verified, there is a chance that some users might end up sideloading apps that have been tampered with.
