Microsoft Surface Duo “peek” feature shown off in video

Similar to LG who just announced their dual screen LG V60 ThinQ 5G, it seems that Microsoft is a big proponent for dual screen smartphones (as opposed to foldables). The company is expected to launch their Surface Duo smartphone later this year, and now thanks to a leaked video, one of the phone's features has been revealed.

In a video shared on Twitter, it looks like one of the features of the Surface Duo is the ability to "peek" at contents of the device without having to open it up fully. Given that the Surface Duo does not have an external display, it means that users will need to constantly flip it open to check on the contents.

This can be annoying, especially for the smaller things, but with the peek feature, users can get a glimpse and then decide what they want to do. For example, the video above shows what happens when a call comes in. Users only need to crack open part of the phone and it will display an optimized UI that shows who's calling.

Opening the phone entirely will bring up a different full screen call interface. Presumably this is applicable to other notifications like messages, emails, and so on, where users can peek at what's going on without having to commit themselves fully if they don't have the time. There is no word on when the phone will be released save for some time this year, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled.
