Xiaomi is one of China's leading handset makers and they are typically known for creating semi-affordable handsets. They do have some pretty high-end devices with its Mi Mix series, which typically pushes the boundaries in terms of smartphone display, but with the company's latest Mi Mix Alpha, it looks like they're gone all out.
Typically, companies love to boast about how they have achieved a screen-to-body ratio of over 90%, but with the Mi Mix Alpha, it puts the rest of the phones to shame as Xiaomi is claiming 180.6% screen-to-body ratio. As you can see in the photo, this is because the display of the phone wraps almost completely wrap the body.
Yes, we're talking about the sides, the bezels, and the back of the phone, where the only break is on the back where a narrow strip houses the camera. Speaking of the camera, it looks like Xiaomi has managed to squeeze a 108MP sensor into it, along with a 12MP telephoto lens and a 20MP ultra-wide angle lens.
While most phone makers tend to opt for aluminum in the build of their devices, Xiaomi has gone with titanium where the top and bottom parts of the phone not covered by the display will use the material. It is a pretty insane design and we're not sure how anyone would use such a device.
Other specs of the phone include the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, 5G, a 4,050mAh battery, and support for 40W fast charging.
The Mi Mix Alpha will be launching in December, although it could be limited in supply as Xiaomi claims it is in small-scale production. It will also not come cheap as it is expected to be priced around $2,800. There is no word on whether the phone will be launching outside of China, but either way, it's been a while since we've been this excited for any smartphone.
