Updated Samsung Galaxy Fold to make its US debut on Friday Sept. 27

Samsung has announced that the updated Galaxy Fold will go in sale in the US this Friday, September 27th. The Samsung Galaxy Fold has been tweaked with "new materials and technologies" to ensure that it is a lot more durable than the original. While the phone looks the same as the original Samsung has made three important changes: caps on the bottom and top of the hinge which prevent dust and debris from penetrating the hinge mechanism, hiding its edges of the protective film below the plastic bezel and a reduction in the gap between the two sides when the phone is folded.

Samsung is also including concierge-like customer service experience for everyone who purchases the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Upon purchasing the phone, buyers can meet with a specialist who will highlight the phone's unique two-screen software features and give buyers guidance on how best to care for and use the Galaxy Fold to ensure that its foldable display remains in pristine condition. If issues do arise with the phone, Galaxy Fold owners will have a dedicated phone number to call with 24/7 support with a video chat option as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold will be available at select AT&T locations across the country and at certain Best Buy stores as well. While other service providers had originally signed up to carry the Galaxy Fold, AT&T was the only one not to pull out of their deal with Samsung once the Galaxy Fold's original launch was postponed. The privilege of owning Samsung's first foldable display smartphone will set you back $1980, making it one of the most expensive consumer smartphones we've seen in years.
