The OnePlus 7 Pro could be the fastest 5G smartphone in the market today

When it comes to 5G smartphones, there aren't that many options to choose from at the moment. This means that for early adopters, there are but a handful of phones that they can buy if they want 5G. The OnePlus 7 Pro is one of them and it could be very well worth your consideration.

This is because according to recent 5G speed tests, the OnePlus 7 Pro appears to be the fastest 5G smartphone that you can buy today. This is based on speed tests conducted by Rootmetrics in which the handset managed to achieve nearly 700Mbps download speeds on EE, the UK's first 5G network.

Other phones taking part in the test include the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the LG V50, and the Oppo Reno 5G, all of which achieved download speeds of 548.45Mbps, 598.44Mbps, and 592.01Mbps respectively, putting the OnePlus 7 Pro well ahead of the competition. We should note that speeds can vary depending on network congestion and signal strength, so that's something to take into consideration as well.

This means that it is possible that on another network, we could be looking at different numbers. OnePlus attributes the speed to the design of the 5G antenna, which they believe played an important role. In a statement made to TechRadar, a OnePlus spokesperson said:

"With the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G we redesigned the 5G antenna, adopted a totally different internal design using a stacked PCB to allow for the additional 5G hardware, and added an expanded cooling system."

Samsung’s year over year profits drop over 50%

Samsung's not having the greatest quarter. The company has released its earnings for the second quarter of 2019 and while revenue only dropped 4% year over year to 56.13 trillion won, operating profits plummeted 56% to 6.6 trillion won.

These profits are no by means small but they are the lowest since the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. This is partially due to weak flagship sales. Despite phone shipments increasing, sales of the Galaxy S10 were fairly week and resulted in a 42% profit drop in the mobile division. This makes sense as flagships have the highest profit margins, and the mid-range phone market (where Samsung is doing well) tends to make less profit.

Another issue is a weak market for its semiconductor business, and things may not improve. The company itself warns of "external uncertainties," which could refer to trade agreements.

Things will likely improve later in the year thanks to multiple device launches like the Galaxy Note 10 and the long awaited Galaxy Fold. On top of that, the display business is doing well and will likely do even better in the next few quarters. And let's be clear: Samsung is in no major trouble. Such a huge company with such large profits isn't going down due to a weak quarter.

MediaTek’s latest chipsets have been designed with gaming in mind

If you thought that gaming smartphones are unnecessary, we can see your point. For the most part, a lot of them tend to rely on similar hardware as flagship phones, so there really isn't too much difference that separates them from the rest. That's something that MediaTek could change in the future.

The company has recently taken the wraps off its latest chipset in the form of the Helio G90. These are a new series of chipsets that have been built for gaming in mind. The G90 series includes the G90 and the G90T, both of which are octa-core chipsets that feature a combination of the Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.05GHz, and also the Cortex-A55 which will be used for lighter tasks.

The chipsets will also come with the Mali G76 GPU on board and will support up to 10GB of LPDDR4x memory. According to MediaTek, the chipsets are also expected to make sure of the HyperEngine tech that is supposed to cut back on things like lag. It will also be capable of maintaining two WiFi connections on different bands at once, ensuring that if one drops, there will be the second as a backup.

MediaTek's chipsets have typically found their way into budget handsets, which means if that the company were to continue with this trend, we could see budget smartphones designed for gaming in the future. It could also solve issues like game compatibility, where games such as Fortnite or PUBG aren't playable on all Android handsets.

So far there is no mention of which handsets might be packing the new G90 or G90T, but we'll keep an eye out for it.

The redesigned Android Auto seems to be rolling out

The Android Auto redesign was announced at Google I/O and is really exciting because it looks to be a huge upgrade over what we have now. Let's be real, Android Auto is clunky and pretty ugly.

The new version trades in the pastel colors for a sleek black look, better matching a factory car interface. Pausing a song no longer requires you to leave your maps, as there are now music controls in the bottom bar. There are a lot more changes done to the system, so check out our hands on!

This redesign was set to launch during the summer of 2019 and people are finally starting to see it. Some users are reporting that the app version 4.5.5928 is getting an option to try the new interface. If you're not seeing it, you can try clearing data on the app and the prompt might appear in the settings.

Unfortunately, this won't work for everyone so most people will continue to have to wait for it to roll out more widely. I'm still waiting with bated breath. Hop into your car to check for the new interface and let us know when you get it!

Check out these crazy deals for Sony’s 4K Android TVs

These days TVs are no longer just devices to watch shows on. These days, TVs have gotten a lot smarter where they can do more than playback videos. They can be used to surf the web, play games, use apps, and more. If you're looking to give your old TV an upgrade, Sony has a bunch of options that could be worth checking out.

These smart TVs are all powered by Android TV and are also Alexa compatible. This means that not only will you have access to Android TV apps and games, but the Alexa compatibility means that it will play nicely with Amazon's Echo speakers and other Alexa-compatible gadgets and services at home.

These TVs range from as small as 55-inches and will go up to 75-inches if you have the space for it. They will also offer up 4K resolution and will all use LED panels, so what you see on the screen should be crisp with rich and deep colors.

Some of the savings on these TVs are pretty impressive where you can save as much as $500, so if you are shopping for a new TV, these could be worth your consideration. You will also want to hurry while the sales last.

Google launches new Pixel 4 ad teasing hand gesture system

The Google Pixel series has long been a "pure" line of devices, lacking a lot of extra features but providing what many people would argue is the ideal Android experience. While other manufacturers continue to experiment with interesting (or gimmicky) features, the Pixel series has remained relatively simple.

However, this is changing with the Pixel 4. Google has taken an unusual stance and has been giving out info on the upcoming device before launch. The company previously showed off the back panel of the Pixel 4 after leaks revealed the design. A later leak discussed a radar-based hand gesture system built into the earpiece area, and it looks like the leak was right. Google has released a new ad showing the feature off.

There isn't much detail in the video, but it shows a person switching songs by waving her hand. This seems pretty similar to LG's palm technology included in the G8, though we hope it's better than that. The feature does have merit, as picking up your device every time you want to change a song or struggling to press a small button when it's on a table can get annoying.

We look forward to learning a new way of interacting with our device without actually touching it. We just hope that this won't end up a gimmick no one will use.

LG’s new trademarks seem to hint at plans for foldable phones

Foldable phones were expected to be a huge trend for 2019. After years of teasing the technology, Samsung announced plans to get in on the foldable phone action. Huawei also followed suit with their own plans, but other companies weren't quite as quick to hop on board.

LG was one of the companies that held off where they said that they felt that it was "too early" to launch such a device, but now it looks like they might have had a change of heart. According to LetsGoDigital, they have discovered a couple of interesting trademarks filed by LG that could hint at the company's plans for a foldable phone (or phones).

The trademarks filed were for devices called "Arc" and "Folds", which while could for anything, really doesn't leave much to the imagination. Now, there's no guarantee that these devices will end up being foldable phones, so take it with a grain of salt for now. The company has flirted with the idea of foldable phones, where earlier this year, LG launched the LG V50 with an optional accessory that kind of gave it a foldable phone look.

That being said, the jury is still out on foldable phones. So far foldable phones have been off to a bad start. Both Samsung and Huawei delayed the launch of their foldable phones, although on Samsung's end, the Galaxy Fold is expected to make its return in September.

Oppo shows off prototype smartphone with a ‘waterfall screen’

Phones with curved edges aren't new. Samsung has been sticking with that design in its smartphones for the past few years, and it wasn't a surprise when we saw other handset makers start to adopt it as well. It looks like Oppo has decided that maybe it could be improved upon, and has since come up with a new "waterfall screen" design.

The company has recently taken the wraps off on a prototype smartphone that sports a display with curved edges that are more pronounced and dramatic than we've ever seen. The photos also compare it against the Oppo Find X (pictured below to the left) which already sports a curved display, but looking at them side-by-side, the Find X's screen looks almost flat.

According to Oppo, they have opted for an 88-degree fold on both the left and right sides of the phone, making its bezels almost look invisible. While it is an achievement in terms of design, we're not sure if there is any practicality to it. Since we grip our phones at its sides, what's to stop us from accidentally activating certain features or functions?

What's the purpose of even having a display so dramatically curved if we can't see it? That being said, it is a prototype after all and Oppo has kept mum on its specs and features, so we'll probably have to wait for a production model before we have a better idea of what kind of purpose this design could serve.

Location tracking might be more useful than we think

The idea of location tracking has gotten very bad connotations over the years, due to an increasing need for privacy and how some companies and some apps are abusing the technology, tracking us where we go, what websites we visit, and products we buy, and so on.

That being said, location tracking does not necessarily have to be a dirty word. In fact, there are many reasons why location tracking can be useful and can even be billed as a safety feature. This is why services like The Phone Spy App can come in handy, where it allows you to track the location of a device smartphone.

We know that the term "spy" might sound rather invasive and negative, but as we said, there are plenty of legitimate reasons why spying on a person's phone can be useful.

Useful for parents

Let's assume for a moment that you're a parent. Thanks to the age of technology, most kids these days have a smartphone, which means that you'll be afforded the kind of tracking and monitoring that our parents never had. For example, you could see where they are at all times and not skipping school. You can also check to see where they claim they are, and not somewhere else up to no good.

Some tracking apps even come with built-in monitoring tools where you can see what kind of messages and calls your kids receive, and what kind of apps or websites they are using. In turn, you can even block harmful content to make sure that they won't see it. Sure, some might scream that this is an invasion of privacy, but when it comes to keeping our loved ones safe, maybe sacrificing a bit of their privacy might not be as bad as the alternative.

Location tracking for medical purposes

Not only is location tracking useful for parents, but it can also be useful for caregivers or if you have elderly parents or relatives who suffer from Alzheimer's. Some of the symptoms of the disease include memory loss, where one day they are fine, and the next they can't remember where they are, or worse, who they are. This can sometimes lead to patients who are not monitored properly to wander around, which can be dangerous.

By installing a location tracker on their phone, it means that you'll be able to keep tabs on their location at all times, where if they suddenly start moving to places they shouldn't be, at the very least you'll know where they are and can find them and bring them home.

A personal safety tool

Location tracking can also be used for personal safety, where if you're traveling to a foreign country or if you're out and about late at night, by providing your location to a family member, partner, or close friend, they'll be able to know where you are at all times. There are some apps that even allow users to press an SOS button that will ping their location to their contact list and call for help.

So, while we do understand the need for privacy, a right that we should all be afforded, it does not mean that location tracking is as bad as it seems. If you were on the fence about using such apps and services, hopefully this will give you some new perspective.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless review: Outrageous sound but fatally flawed

Sennheiser is known for high end headphones, making some of the most famous over-ear open-back headphones on the market. While there are plenty of amazing options for audiophiles in the headphone market, Sennheiser is the go-to brand for newly inducted audiophiles.

So it's no surprise that they've gotten into the premium true wireless earbud game. The Momentum True Wireless are a stab at true wireless earphones that don't sacrifice sound quality for portability and comfort.

Overview

The Sennheisr Momentum True Wireless come in a plastic case covered in a fabric. This is the only color and it looks quite good.

On the back you'll find a USB-C port, which is great, and a button that seems decidedly low tech for anything over $50. To check your battery charge, you have to hit this small black button for the LED to light up. It just doesn't seem elegant compared to most earphones.

The earphones are long and feature this metal looking finish on the end that doubles as a touch pad. The touch controls are complex but powerful, with one side (oddly the left side) doing media controls and the right doing transparent hearing and voice assistant. This does require a hefty tap, which is a little irritating when the earphone is so deep in your ear, but the touch controls work fairly well.

Build quality

For $299 you expect some serious build quality. However, this is where Sennheiser disappoints. The case is made out of thin, cheap plastic. It isn't very noticeable at the base, but the lid is extremely flimsy and has a huge amount of give. It twists and bends, entirely unbecoming of a premium product. Fortunately, the case is covered in some really nice fabric material. It both looks and feels really nice and doesn't get dirty easily.

The earphones themselves have very solid build quality, though the plastic is plain and not particularly nice. No problems here as they'll spend most of their time in your ears. They're also aligned in the case so you can take them out and put them directly into your ear. This is a nice detail, as some earphones need to be flipped before inserting into your ear. They also have magnets so they don't fall out of the case, which is something I love and wish all earphones had.

The nearest competitor to the Momentum TW is the Master & Dynamic MW07. These earphones cost the same at $299 and share a lot of aspects. The case is stainless steel with no flex or give, the earphones have metal cores and handcrafted acetate covers. They feel exquisite. Even the $129 Samsung Galaxy Buds are leagues ahead in build quality, particularly with the case. They are less than half the price and are entirely plastic, but the case is far more solid and the plastics used have nice finishes to them.

Comfort

The Momentum TW are relatively comfortable, though I'd call the comfort average. They're meant to go deep into your ear, deeper than most earphones. Naturally, this means that they are more "obvious" feeling in the ear and create a much tighter seal than most. This can result in pressure build up faster than the competition, and overall it's just not as comfortable as the best of the best.

However, there are no protrusions or sharp points that cause discomfort, and they don't fall out of the ear easily. Despite their simple shape, they're surprisingly stable and shaped to the ear.

Sound quality

There's no denying it, these earphones sound amazing. They're probably the best sounding true wireless earphones on the market.

The highs are crystal clear, while the bass is strong and very sharp and punchy. The bass is the focus here, as it's a bit boosted and particularly clear and crisp. It takes the forefront and kicks much harder than expected.

Unfortunately, it is a bit excessive in some genres of music, particularly some rock and most metal. It gets boomy and distorted at times. This is normal with bass-heavy headphones and metal, but it's still a bit of an annoyance at high volumes. Fortunately, with most other genres, the bass is a delight.

Compared to the MW07s, the Momentums definitely have them beat in the bass department, and the highs are smoother and aren't quite as sparkly. However, the MW07 do have them beat in clarity of the highs, and they sound flatter and more "natural." They also lack the bass distortion issue with metal.

Overall, I'd put the Momentum TWs above the MW07s, but just barely. Just barely. That punchy bass is so fun!

Connection

I've had some issues with connecting these earphones to various phones. Taking them out of the case usually has them connect to a device automatically if they were previously paired. Switching between devices is where the issue arises. Putting them in pairing mode and pressing on them in the Bluetooth menu once they're discovered results in pairing failures, and using the app only works half the time.

Often, connecting to a new device takes a solid few minutes of annoying fiddling while the earphones loudly proclaim "NO CONNECTION" and "PAIRING FAILED" in your ear. The dialog is uncomfortably loud.

Connection issues aren't entirely rare in Bluetooth products (after all, Bluetooth isn't exactly a great, user friendly technology), but I haven't had such issues with other high end products.

Actual connection strength has been flawless, with no major drop outs or range issues. You can walk pretty far away before you get audio issues, and in the pocket or across walls, the connection is strong and stable. If you don't switch phones often, you'll have no issues.

Battery life

Here is where the biggest problem lies. It's not that the battery life is bad. Sennheiser claims 4 hours per charge on the earphones and 8 more hours in the case. 4 hours is about average, though it's not exceptional. The case being so large and housing only two extra charges isn't bad but isn't spectacular either.

No, the problem is with idle battery drain. Give the earphones 5 days after a full charge and they're dead. No charge in the earphones or the case. Use them even a little during this time and that time shrinks further.

Not being able to leave your earphones unused for less than a week is absolutely unacceptable. As someone who doesn't use wireless earphones every day,  I'd often find myself picking them up and finding them dead. No other earphones I use do this: The Galaxy Buds and MW07s can go for months without losing a substantial enough charge to affect the battery indicator.

The cherry on top is that when the case dies, the earphones think they're no longer in the case and auto connect to your phone. This means you'll miss all notifications and have no audio until you figure out that the Momentum TWs are the cause and you manually disconnect them.

Features

These earbuds are pretty light on extra features, but there is one available thanks to the companion app. Transparent mode pumps surrounding audio through the earbuds, making it like you're not wearing them at all. This is great for being aware of your surroundings, like when commuting or walking around a big city, while still listening to music.

Sennheiser's Transparent mode is quite good, substantially better than Samsung's hissy implementation. Audio quality is natural and you hear a lot of details. There's no way to focus on voices like Samsung's version, but I still enjoyed it. It's not great in silent environments, where it tends to have a constant hiss, but this isn't a normal use case. The app also takes ages to load and connect to turn on this feature.

The one issue I had is hair brushing against the mics. Where this happened rarely on the Galaxy Buds, I found that my hair more frequently brushed against the Momentum TW mics and made noise. A minor issue likely due to the more bulky construction, but one worth pointing out.

Conclusion

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless Rating: star_fullstar_fullstar_50star_0star_0 (2.5 / 5)

The Good

  • Sound amazing, probably the best in the category
  • Relatively comfortable
  • Transparent mode available, sounds good
  • Magnets in case nice touch

The Bad

  • Awful battery issues
  • Case is super cheap feeling
  • App slow to load
  • Switching phones is a major pain
  • Pricey at $299.99

The Bottom Line

Purely sound wise, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless are absolutely amazing. They might be the best sounding true wireless earbuds on the market, and that's saying something. The clear highs that aren't too harsh, the strong punchy bass, it all made me want to love these earphones.

But the awful battery issues really kill the experience. Frankly, it's hard to recommend these earphones despite the amazing sound. They're just not practical. Not usable. If you think this won't bother you and you just want the ultimate sound, grab them and be amazed. If you don't charge your earphones every day, hard pass. The MW07 are a much better choice.

Google has the Pixel 3a to thank for doubling its Pixel sales

Google's Pixel 3 comes with pretty impressive hardware specs and features, but yet it did not quite sell as well as Google would have liked. There is no specific reason why that is, but there is a good chance that it could have been due to the price of the phone, where Google has long departed from the good old days where its Nexus phones were somewhat affordable.

It seems that Google might be learning a rather valuable lesson because during Google's earnings call, the company's CEO Sundar Pichai revealed that thanks to the Pixel 3a, it helped them to double their overall Pixel sales for Q2 2019. According to Pichai:

"With the launch of Pixel 3a in May, overall Pixel unit sales in Q2 grew more than 2x year-over-year. In addition to Verizon and the Google Store, we successfully expanded our distribution to T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular, Spectrum Mobile, and additional partners which has greatly diversified our sales footprint in the US."

The Pixel 3a was introduced earlier this year where it acted as a budget/more affordable version of the Pixel 3 smartphones. It did not come with flagship hardware, but it came with something more important: a lower price tag which combined with its hardware and features, made it a value-for-money purchase.

Google isn't alone in discovering that pricing phones at the $1,000 mark isn't doing them a lot of favors. Apple has also been experiencing the same phenomenon as Google where their more affordable iPhone XR is said to be outperforming the iPhone XS and XS Max in terms of sales as well.

Lenovo’s virtual reality Mirage Camera is enjoying incredible savings of $200

Virtual reality has yet to fully take off, and we reckon that part of the reason is due to the fact that you need specialized camera equipment if you truly want to be able to take videos in VR. There have been some cameras released in the past that offers up the ability to snap photos and videos in VR, but they weren't always cheap.

The Lenovo Mirage Camera is one of those devices, where it was launched back in 2018 for $300. If you thought that was a bit too pricey, you're in luck because thanks to a deal going on at the moment, Amazon has slashed the price of the Mirage Camera by 67%, bringing its price down to a very low and affordable $100.

The camera has been designed to make stereoscopic capture easy. It has also been designed to make the sharing of said content easy as well, where users will be able to opt to have it automatically uploaded to their Google Photos or YouTube account. The T-Mobile/Sprint merger may finally usher in the era of the eSIM

SIM cards have allowed users to easily change service providers or phones for years, but the newer eSIM technology, which has been around for about half a decade already, was expected to make things a lot easier while eliminating the need to purchase and swap out a physical SIM card.

While uptake of the new technology has been quite slow, the newly-approved merger between T-Mobile and Sprint may finally be the tipping point which would bring eSIM into the forefront. As part of the merger approval, the DOJ will require T-Mobile to support eSIM to facilitate the switching between wireless service providers. Since Dish will be acquiring select T-Mobile and Sprint assets which will allow it to become the nation's 4th largest service provider, Dish will also be required to support eSIM as well.

The remedy also facilitates consumers' ability to easily switch between wireless providers by requiring the new T-Mobile and the new Dish service to support eSIM, electronic SIM, technology. This requirement will make it easier for Dish to attract new subscribers, help extend the competition in this market, and will provide a platform for new innovative options.

Sadly in the United States, eSIM has not been widely adopted in mobile wireless like it is in Europe and others. And that's an area separate of this merger we have looked to. This will revolutionize the use eSIMs in hopefully all carriers, because once consumers have it, they'll benefit from it.

Forcing T-Mobile and Dish to use eSIM technology in their new phones may ultimately lead other service providers to jump on board with the new technology as well. Ultimately, eSIM adoption will result in how smartphones are designed since they will no longer require the SIM card slot, saving room inside the devices to be used for larger batteries or other components.

DOOM, DOOM II now available from the Google Play Store

For the younger generation who grew up on games like Battlefield or Call of Duty, you actually have to thank games such as DOOM which helped popularize the genre way back in the day. Granted, those games don't necessarily look the best when compared to today's graphics, but they were a classic.

If you wouldn't mind reliving a classic, you'll be pleased to learn that Bethesda has since released both DOOM and DOOM II onto the Play Store where they will be priced at $4.99 each. The good thing about these games is that they are both free of microtransactions, so what you pay for is what you're going to get.

According to Bethesda:

"Celebrate DOOM's 25th anniversary with the re-release of the original DOOM (1993), including the expansion, Thy Flesh Consumed, is now available on Android devices. First released in 1993, DOOM introduced millions of gamers to the fast-paced, white-knuckle, demon-slaying action the franchise is known for."

It also seems to be keeping true to the original games, where DOOM will come with an extra 5 levels, while DOOM II will come with an extra 20 levels. We're not sure how fun the game will be on mobile compared to playing with a keyboard and mouse, but if you're interested, perhaps you could take it for a spin.

JotForm Mobile Forms review: A quick and easy way to create and manage forms

Whenever you're online these days, there's a good chance you'll need to fill out a form — whether a form to keep you notified of product updates, a form to sign up for a mailing list, a survey form, or a payment form.

If you own a business and would like to create forms for your website, there are plenty of companies out there that would be more than happy to take your money and design a form for you. But what if you're a small startup? Or what if you're just looking to conduct a survey and don't want to spend money to create a simple survey form?

That's a problem that JotForm Mobile Forms is looking to solve, and we think that they did a pretty good job.

What is JotForm Mobile Forms?

For those unfamiliar, JotForm Mobile Forms is an app that allows users to create their own forms quickly and easily and share them online. One of the features we love about JotForm Mobile Forms is that the forms are created and hosted on JotForm. All you need to do is share the link with the people you want to fill out the form, and you'll be good to go. This means you won't have to hire a company just to host your forms.

Why use JotForm Mobile Forms?

The app has a very clean and simple user interface. Everything is pretty intuitive, even for someone who hasn't created a form before. It took less than a minute to launch the app, choose the form I wanted, and publish it. Obviously, it'll take you longer if you customize the form, but if you want something quick and simple, you've got it.

The process of creating a form is extremely straightforward; you can create a form entirely from scratch or choose from 5,000+ free templates.

Templates include standard forms, such as payment forms, survey forms, and so on. There's a good chance you'll be able to find what you need. You can also customize a template to suit your needs, whether it's changing the color scheme, creating a look that's more in line with your website, or adding additional fields.

Once someone fills out your form, the information is sent to your email. Alternatively, you can view the results through the app. You also have the option of downloading the results as a PDF, and you can print the PDF if need be.

Advanced features

From an initial glance at JotForm Mobile Forms, it looks very simple, maybe even too simple, but that's where you're wrong. JotForm Mobile Forms has many advanced features that will let you customize existing forms and take them to the next level. For example, you can use conditional logic on a form, which changes the questions that appear based on a user's answers to previous questions.

Conditional logic is pretty easy to understand — think of if-then statements — so you should get the hang of it in no time. This feature has the added benefit of making your forms feel more dynamic.

JotForm also has integrations with many third-party apps, such as Slack, PayPal, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Dropbox, Square, and so on.

Excellent for on-the-spot surveys

One feature that I found pretty clever is kiosk mode. This essentially locks the app while displaying the form on the screen of your smartphone. You can pass your phone to people in public, and they can fill out the form on the spot, instead of you sending them a link to the form that they may or may not click on.

This will be incredibly handy if you're doing a public survey or if you're at an event and looking to get some feedback on your products or services.

Conclusion

JotForm Mobile Forms is not the only service out there that allows users to create their own forms. However, its ease of use and the advanced features definitely put it head and shoulders above competitors like Google Forms. The best part is that JotForm Mobile Forms is free.

If this sounds like an app you'd find useful for work or school, it's available for both iOS and Android devices. You can download it through the App Store and Google Play.

Huawei Mate X spotted in the wild, company still cagey about a release date

Earlier this year alongside the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei unveiled their own foldable smartphone in the form of the Huawei Mate X. For a while, it seemed like Huawei could have gotten the jump on Samsung by releasing the phone before them, following the build issues that Samsung ran into with the Galaxy Fold.

That was not the case as Huawei later announced that they too would be delaying the launch of their phone. So, now that Samsung has confirmed that their foldable phone will be released in September, does Huawei have an answer? Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.

The Chinese media had a recent run in with the company's CEO, Richard Yu, where he was spotted using the phone in real-life. When asked when the phone would be released, Yu said that "it will have to wait". It was previously reported that the Mate X could be launching in September as well, but to date the company has yet to provide any specifics.

In the meantime, we have to say that the Mate X looks pretty good in real life. The dimensions and aspect ratio of the phone certain comes across rather tablet-like when folded, versus the Galaxy Fold which has a bit of an odd shape to it. In any case, we'll just have to wait and see.

New Nvidia Shield TV goes through FCC

The NVIDIA Shield TV was released all the way back in 2015, while the latest model was unveiled over two and a half years ago in early 2017. Even though it's old, it's still a very popular choice when it comes to Android TV boxes due to its versatility and power.

However, it looks like we're finally going to be seeing another update to this device. A new Shield TV has passed through the FCC under the title "NVIDIA Corporation SHIELD Android TV game Console P3430." No details were given other than a processor, which is labeled "Tegra X1 T210 B01."

This Tegra X1 T210 B01 seems to be an update to the T210 used in the current Shield TV. The Nintendo Switch was recently refreshed with a Tegra X1 T214, so it's not likely to be the new Switch processor, but it could be related since they're both variants of the X1 family.

A bit more power and efficiency will be a welcome update, but we hope to see improved peripherals as well. it will sure help sell the media boxes at a time where many smart features are already built into every TV.

T-Mobile will be passing on the Samsung Galaxy Fold

Just yesterday, Samsung had officially confirmed that the Galaxy Fold foldable smartphone will be making its return in September. This is no doubt good news for those who have been eagerly anticipating the handset, but it seems that not everyone is too excited about the upcoming handset, such as T-Mobile.

According to a report from The Verge, it appears that T-Mobile has decided that they will not be carrying the Galaxy Fold. The company claims that they already offer a wide range of the latest smartphones, as if implying that is good enough reason that they will not be offering the Galaxy Fold. According to a statement they received:

"T-Mobile will not carry the Galaxy Fold because we already offer customers a wide range of the latest smartphones. Please reach out to Samsung for any further inquiries."

It is odd that T-Mobile has decided that they will be passing up on the handset, especially since together with AT&T, they were the only two major carriers in the US to offer the phone at launch. That being said, you can still buy the phone unlocked and we reckon that it should not have any issues being used on T-Mobile's network, just don't expect to be able to pay it back through an installment plan.

As for AT&T, the carrier has yet to officially announce anything yet. The company had to cancel pre-orders of the handset earlier as they weren't sure when the phone would be released again.

Google Home will no longer speak when turning lights on and off

The smart home has exploded in popularity, and I'm sure most of us are running at least one smart light. The convenience of telling your Google Home to turn your light on and off without getting up is unrivaled, and the added control of brightness, warmth, and color is incredibly useful.

That also means we're used to hearing Google chatter on, repeating exactly what you asked of it to make sure you know it's been done. You know, even though the lights turning off was enough proof for us. Thankfully Google has finally changed this.

The new behavior occurs when you're controlling the lights in the room you're in. Instead of a long winded phrase, all you'll hear is a chime. The tone is different between on and off, which is nice. This also applies to smart outlets named as lights or lamps.

If the light you're controlling is in another room, you'll still get confirmation that the action has been done. Good job Google, this is really well thought out!

This update to the Google Home is now rolling out to everyone, and I've already grown to love it. The lack of talking at night is a blessing. Give it a shot and let us know if you've received the new functionality!

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 5G spotted with triple camera setup in leaked image

When Samsung launched the 5G version of the Galaxy S10 earlier this year, it was a completely different beast from the other Galaxy S10 models. One of the main differences was how it came with a quad-camera setup on the back, which is something that we have been hearing that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 could adopt as well.

Unfortunately, that might not be the case. According to a recent image shared by leakster Evan Blass (protected tweets), it seems that the upcoming 5G version of the Note 10 will come with a triple camera setup on the back. The image (see below) refers to it as the Note 10+ 5G and it also seems to bear Verizon's branding.

This is in line with what we have been hearing in which Verizon is expected to get an exclusive with the 5G version of the handset. We expect that this exclusivity will not be permanent, similar to the 5G Galaxy S10 which would also later go on to be made available at other carriers as well.

At this point we're not sure if there is even going to be a Note 10 model with a quad camera, as all the leaks we've seen to date have shown off a phone with a triple camera. In any case, the official details will be revealed in the coming weeks at Samsung's event scheduled for the 7th of August, so be sure to check back with us then for more updates.

RED confirms plans for Hydrogen Two despite the first being a flop

When the RED Hydrogen One was announced, it seemed like a very interesting smartphone on paper. It featured a very unique display and a camera system that showed a lot of promise, thanks to RED's reputation for creating cameras that are widely used in the moviemaking industry.

Unfortunately, the phone was delayed and when it did launch, it did not live up to the hype or expectations and actually fell way below that. It seems that the company has no plans on giving up on its smartphone ambitions just yet. In fact, the company's founder Jim Jannard has confirmed that they are actually working on a successor, the Hydrogen Two, in which the phone will benefit from the mistakes the company has made.

In a post on RED's forum, Jannard detailed what went wrong during the production of the company's first phone, which he is hoping to avoid with their second handset. According to Jannard:

"We chose an ODM in China to prepare the HYDROGEN One for manufacture at Foxconn. While Foxconn has been fantastic, our ODM, which was responsible for the mechanical packaging of our design including new technologies along with all software integration with the Qualcomm processor, has significantly under-performed. Getting our ODM in China to finish the committed features and fix known issues on the HYDROGEN One has proven to be beyond challenging. Impossible actually. This has been irritating me to death and flooding our reactor."

There is no word on when the RED Hydrogen Two will be launched, but would any of you be willing to give the company a second chance?

Get your wallets ready, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is coming back this September

Earlier this year, Samsung announced their first foldable smartphone in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The phone was originally supposed to be launched several months ago, but during the early reviews of the handset, it was discovered that there were some glaring quality and build issues that needed to be addressed.

It was unclear when the phone was expected to launch after that, but we have been hearing reports that its redesign is reportedly ready and good to go. Well, if you were eyeing the handset and are excited at the prospect of being an early adopter, you'll be pleased to learn that Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Fold will be making its return to the market this coming September.

The company has detailed some of the changes that they've made to the design and build quality, where they address some of the issues that were discovered earlier. This includes making sure that the top protective layer of the display is not meant to be removed, along with reinforcing the design to prevent external particles from getting in, while also adjusting the hinge area to be stronger.

According to Samsung:

"Along with these improvements, Samsung has also been continuously working to improve the overall Galaxy Fold user experience, including optimizing more apps and services for its unique foldable UX. Samsung is conducting final product tests to make Galaxy Fold available to consumers starting from September in select markets. Availability details will be shared as we get closer to the launch."

We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information regarding exact availability.

Insane deal knocks 50% off the Razer Phone 2’s price

The Razer Phone 2 was launched last year with some of the highest-end hardware possible at that time. It did not exactly come cheap where it was priced at $800, but if you're not opposed to using last year's hardware and want to save yourself a fair bit of money, then perhaps the phone could be worth checking out.

This is because over at Amazon, they are offering a very good deal where the price of the phone has been slashed by 50%. This means that instead of paying $800 for the phone, the Razer Phone 2 is now priced at just $400. This is for the unlocked version of the phone, which means that you'll have to pay upfront for the entire handset instead of purchasing it through a carrier with an installment plan, although to be honest, $400 is quite a steal.

As for its specs, we're looking at the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, dual front-facing speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a THX certified DAC. There is also its beautiful 120Hz display, a 4,000mAh battery, and a dual camera setup on the back.

At the moment, it is unclear if Razer has plans to launch a Razer Phone 3 due to cuts of its workforce, so for all we know, this could be one of the last smartphones we'll be seeing from the company, at least for a while.

Good news, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will come with the Snapdragon 855+

With Qualcomm having recently announced the new Snapdragon 855+ chipset, we're sure that there are some who are wondering if the flagship smartphones for the second half of 2019 will be adopting the chipset, or if they will be using the Snapdragon 855.

For those who are eyeing the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 as their next smartphone, you'll be pleased to learn that there is a very good chance that the handset will be adopting the Snapdragon 855+. This is according to a couple of tweets from @OnLeaks who claims that both the Note 10 and the Note 10 Plus are expected to adopt the use of the Snapdragon 855+.

It should also be noted that depending on your country/region, Samsung is also expected to offer both handsets in the Exynos 9825 variant, which hopefully should be on par with the Snapdragon 855+. Other alleged features of the phone include 15W PowerShare, a 25W charger, and a new S Pen that will apparently support "Air Actions" in gestures. What this means remains to be seen, but we should have all the details in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, ASUS has beaten Samsung to the punch with the ROG Phone 2, the first smartphone launched with the Snapdragon 855+ in tow.

Huawei reportedly help North Korea develop a spy-friendly phone network

One of the reasons why the US government had initially blacklisted Huawei was because they expressed their concerns about how by using Huawei's technology, it would allow China to potentially spy on them. Are these fears unfounded, or was it an excuse for the US government to bargain for a better deal with China?

As it turns out, those fears weren't completely unfounded. According to multiple reports from both the Washington Post and 38 North, it seems that Huawei had been instrumental in building North Korea's Koryolink, which for those unfamiliar, is the country's cellphone network.

While Huawei building networks for other countries isn't new, what stands out from this report is how the network actually allows the spying on its users. Through the network, it allowed the government to potentially spy on its people where they were able to pull all kinds of information, such as calls, text, data, and even faxes. It also allowed the country's government elites to enjoy a greater degree of privacy where their calls were encrypted and could not be monitored.

In response to the reports, Huawei told the Washington Post that it "has no business presence" in North Korea. However, some have pointed out the use of past tense in Huawei's statement, suggesting that while Huawei could have helped build the network, they are no longer doing business with the country, which would technically make their statement accurate.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 may feature innovative new touch bezel

According to the latest rumor, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is expected to feature a "Touch Bezel" which would reinstate many of the same control mechanisms which were abandoned when Samsung decided to remove the rotating bezel from its current smartwatch lineup. The new touch-sensitive bezel would allow users to swipe their finger around the bezel to scroll through and navigate Samsung's circular interface more easily.

Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is said to feature Bluetooth 5. The new Bluetooth technology would allow the device to have 4 times the range of its predecessor while consuming less power.

Samsung is expected to unveil the new smartwatch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 in August. Pricing is still unknown at this time, but users should have the option to choose between 40mm and 44mm cases sizes with aluminum or steel case options.

Dramatic cutbacks at Futurewei Technologies leads to 600 lost jobs

As rumored last week, Huawei has announced that 600 of the 850 employees working at its Futurewei Technologies research division in the US will be let go. While Futurewei is technically set up as a separate business from Huawei proper, due to Huawei's placement on the U.S. Entity List Futurewei is no longer able to share any of its research with its parent company.

Following the disbanding of the 600 Futurewei employees, Huawei will still have roughly 1,200 employees split between supply chain operations, public relations and customer service support. For what it's worth, Huawei's employee headcount has been on a steady decline since U.S. service providers backed out of their collaboration with Huawei to launch the Mate 30 Pro last year due to pressure from the US government.

There's a slight chance that things could turn around for Huawei if the trade embargo is lifted by the Trump administration, but it would be years before the company would fully recover.

How to Track A Cell Phone Location for Free with the Number of the Cell Phone

Wondering about where your child goes when they say they have to go out? Or perhaps your spouse has been keeping some secrets from you and you want to keep an eye on them?

In any case, it can be important to know about the location of the target device. But how?

Don't worry, I am here to help you with the same. I have reviewed the best location-tracking apps in the market. So here we start our pick for the best phone location trackers in the market, starting from the best.

Best Apps to Track Cell Phone Location by Number Remotely

There are so many software that claim to track a cell phone location. However, the functionality of these apps and the features they provide are not often as they claim. This makes it important to know what each app is capable of.

Hence, without wasting any time, let us start with the top 5 location trackers starting from the best.

#1 How to Track a Cell Phone by Number via Cocospy

When I have to personally keep an eye on someone's location, I go no place else. Cocospy has been my best friend for years.

To put Cocospy in simple words (as the app itself is very simple), it is a phone monitoring service that you can use through any web browser. It gives you complete details about the target phone, including their location, messages, call logs, and so much more.

Sounds unbelievable? Well, I haven't even started. With Cocospy, you can track a cell phone 24×7 without the target user ever finding out. This is due to the highest level of technology used in the creation of Cocospy.

Pros

  • No root or Jailbreak required
  • Web-based service (works through any web browser)
  • No app installation on the target iOS phone
  • Works on Android in stealth mode
  • The cheapest thing in the market

Cons

  • I tried hard finding a con, couldn't find any.

At first, I didn't even imagine something like Cocospy existed. Then I started using Cocospy and realized how wrong I was.

It not only gave me the target phone location, but it even showed me all the past locations of the target device along with time stamps.

Here is how you too can track any location via Cocospy:

Steps to Track a Cell Phone Location

Step 1. Sign up for Cocospy and get a subscription for your target phone- iOS or Android (yes, it works on both!).

Step 2. Follow the setup wizard on the screen. It will guide you through the easy setup process.

Step 3. a.) If the target phone is iOS, there is no need for any app installation. You can spy on the target phone just by their iCloud credentials, without accessing the phone even once. b.) If the target phone is Android, you will have to install the Cocospy app on the target phone. Don't worry, it works in stealth mode.

Step 4. Give the system a few minutes to sync the data of target phone on your Cocospy dashboard.

Step 5. Hit 'Start' and begin monitoring the cell phone location. You will be taken to the Cocospy dashboard.

Now that you are into the Spyic dashboard, you can monitor any device through the 'Location' tab in the left side of the dashboard. You can even use Geofencing feature which lets you create a boundary for the device's location.

See, as I told you beforehand, Cocospy is a very easy and one of the best tracking services I have seen. You should get started and track a cell phone via Cocospy now.

#2 Track a Cell Phone by Number via Spyic

Spyic is the only thing in the market that is capable of giving a close competition to Cocopsy. It is priced competitively and can do so much more than just track a cell phone's location.

But if all you need is to know where the target user at any instant, you are going to love Spyic. It works like a ninja that is always keeping an eye on the person without their knowledge.

Spyic is also a web-based service. It does not require you to root or jailbreak the target phone. The features I have found in Spyic, I haven't found anywhere else.

#3 How to Track a Phone Number by Spokeo

Spokeo isn't your traditional phone location tracker in the sense that it will not give you the live location of the target phone.

However, it truly holds the claim of tracking a cell phone location with the number of the cell phone. This is due to its reverse phone lookup feature.

With Spokeo, you can enter the number of the target phone and it will give you the address of the device, along with the last known addresses. This is a unique feature that the other entries on this list lack.

However, the usefulness of this feature is up for debate. There are very few who would pick it over apps like Cocospy or Spyic.

#4 How to Track A Cell Phone Location with Number by Life360

Life360 is an application for Android and iOS that allows location sharing between family and friends.

With Life360, you can create groups and add your family members or friends in the group. They will get constant updates about your live location. Further, it also allows you to chat with the members on the location page.

However, it doesn't offer much other than location tracking. Further, if you are using Life360, you cannot do it in stealth mode. The target user will always know.

#5 How to Track a Mobile Number by Glympse

Glympse is a simple and minimalistic app. The basic idea of the app is to share the location with someone or request their location to you.

You don't require any signup to use Glympse. And it works as easy as pie. However, there is nothing else that this app has to offer. It also doesn't support a stealth mode.

Takeaways

If you wonder how to track a cell phone location for free, these five apps will do wonders for you. However, if you are low on time and want to be economical, it is better to choose one of them.

Based on my evaluation and research, Cocospy is the best app and complete value for money that I have found. I suggest you go with it and you will be thanking me later.

Happy tracking!

When it comes to routers, there are so many out there to choose from, so the question is, which should you choose? If you're in the market for a new router, TP-Link could have something that might be of interest to you.

The company's TP-Link AC1750 smart WiFi router is currently on sale on Amazon where it has its price slashed from $80 to $58, representing a decent 28% discount and a savings of $22. How to Recover Deleted Files from your Android Device on a Mac

Our smartphones run into problems every now and then, whether it be a virus attack, software issues, or simply a corrupted SD card, in which the data on our phones might be lost as a result. Or you might have simply accidentally deleted a file, photo, or text message that you didn't mean to and are trying to get it back.

It can also be handy if you're looking to sell off your smartphone and want to ensure that even after you reset your phone to factory settings, that all the data is truly deleted.

If you were worried that you might have to send your smartphone to a data recovery professional and pay them hundreds of dollars to retrieve your lost data, not to worry because CleverFiles' Disk Drill could help solve that problem.

The entire recovery process is pretty simple and straightforward and can be used with any Android smartphone, whether it be a Pixel/Nexus handset, a Samsung phone, a tablet, and so on, making it one of the best software for Mac around.

Use Disk Drill to Recover Deleted Files From Android On Mac

  1. To begin the recovery process, first, you'd need to head on over to CleverFiles' website and download its Disk Drill for macOS.
  2. You'll also want to stop using all programs on your Android smartphone. This is because as you use your phone, more data is being written to the system, which could make the recovery process more complicated than necessary.
  3. Next, get the cable for your Android smartphone and plug your handset into your computer.
  4. Upon successful detection, your handset should be detected as a Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) device. You will then need to turn on USB debugging on your Android handset.
  5. At this point, you will be required to have an Android smartphone that is already rooted. This is because Disk Drill will require deeper access into your smartphone than most apps would. If you don't know how to root your smartphone, you can check out XDA's very comprehensive guide. Also, before rooting your smartphone, a good idea is to back it up just in case anything goes wrong.
  6. Upon successful rooting of your Android smartphone, you will now be able to use Disk Drill's software with your smartphone. All you need to do is ensure your phone is connected, launch Disk Drill on your Mac, and click the "Recover" button and wait while the software scans your phone.
  7. Once the scan is complete, you'll be able to browse all the files that it has found on your smartphone, even the ones that you deleted and thought were lost for good.
  8. Select the files that you want to recover, hit the "Recover" button, and they will be extracted to a folder of your choosing.
  9. You can keep repeating this process as many times as you'd like, and it won't be limited to just Android smartphones as it can also be used to recover files on your computer.

Why Use Disk Drill?

While there are plenty of other Android recovery tools available, one of the upsides to Disk Drill is its incredibly clean interface and its ease of use, so if you're familiar with the Wondershare data recovery software for Android, then you should have no problems with using Disk Drill.

Apart from the slightly complicated process that is required to root your smartphone, the process of recovering your data is pretty straightforward. It almost feels like you're browsing your smartphone through a file explorer, making the process of data recovery feel a lot less intimidating than you thought.

It also comes with handy features, such as being able to save a scan session which lets you pick up where you left off. You will also be able to sort files by non-hidden, hidden, and also if you're looking for specific file types such as pictures, video, audio, or documents, you can do that as well. This, we believe, makes Disk Drill one of the best Android data recovery software and best recovery apps for Android available.

The best part is that Disk Drill can be downloaded for free. The Basic version of the software allows users to do a scan of their devices to make sure that the files they want to recover can be recovered. This means that if you'd rather not spend money on an app before knowing it works, you won't have to with Disk Drill. Users will be required to upgrade to the Pro version if they want to complete the recovery process.
