After a short stint as a Microsoft-owned company, Nokia made a fierce comeback in the smartphone world with its new partnership with HMD Global. The company licensed its name to the hardware manufacturer, which released several new smartphone devices this year including the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8.
Now new data from analysts suggest Nokia sold around 2.8 million smartphones for Q3 2017, which is a bit of growth over the 1.5 million sold in the first half of the year. While it's nice to see growth on the smartphone side of things, Nokia feature phones stole the show with 13.5 million devices sold in the same period. The Nokia 3310 is likely responsible for much of that, considering the throwback device debuted earlier this year.
The upcoming Nokia 9 is expected to debut in China later this month, with an event planned on January 19th. Nokia has a pretty good track record in updating its host of new phones, with the company promising that most handsets released this year will see Android P on the device.
