We're only a few weeks into 2018 and things are already off to a great start (/s). OnePlus could be the latest company to fall victim to online hackers stealing your credit card information. Earlier today, reports of suspicious charges hitting some users' credit cards began circulating OnePlus' user forum, this was after they had made purchases from OnePlus' online store. Word finally got back to OnePlus and as a result, they've temporarily halted all credit card sales on their website while they investigate the potential hack.
OnePlus says they've done their part in ensuring credit card information isn't processed/saved on their website (everything is sent to their PCI-DSS-compliant payment processing partner over an encrypted connection for processing). As a precaution, if you've recently made a purchase from OnePlus' store, they recommend checking the bank accounts tied to your credit cards to ensure no strange charges were made while they conduct a full audit.
The good news? 3rd party payment services like PayPal are still functional, so should you decided you really need a new OnePlus 5T you can still use that as your payment method. In the meantime, keep an eye on your credit cards until this is all sorted out.
