Samsung showed off the Galaxy X during private events at CES 2018

While the rest of us are looking forward to seeing Samsung launch the Galaxy S9 lineup, the company has its sights set on bigger goals. The Samsung Galaxy X was reportedly shown off to industry leaders by Samsung, during private meetings at CES 2018.

This is not the first time prototypes have been shown off to those in the industry, but this latest version is an upgrade to the one privately showcased at MWC 2017. According to the report, not only did Samsung show off the upcoming device but also revealed that launch schedule for the Galaxy X.

One report claims that Samsung showed off two different versions of the device, one that folded inward and the other that folded outward. However, Samsung will be taking off with the infolding version as the outfolding version is said to be a "more advanced next-generation technology".

In addition to Samsung showing off its foldable smartphone, it seems that other companies showed off their versions at CES 2018. However, Samsung's presentation attracted many more parties due to the fact that the device has been in development for so long.

Finally, the report shared that the Galaxy X will carry a display size of 7.3-inches, and Samsung "plans to start production later this year". We don't know much else other than that, but it will be interesting to see how the foldable smartphone game plays out.
