If you live in the U.S. you probably have one of the four big carriers: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon. There's a lot of debate about which network is the "best." There are many variables to consider and location plays a big part in which network is best for you. OpenSignal is a company that does wireless coverage mapping. They recently announced their latest bi-annual report.
You might assume that AT&T and Verizon are the best networks since they seem to constantly brag about awards in TV commercials. OpenSignal's data shows otherwise. They gave the award to T-Mobile for 4G download speed, 3G download speed, 3G latency, and 4G availability. The only category they didn't win was 4G latency, which went to AT&T.
It should be noted that overall coverage is not a factor in these awards. The testing was conducted in areas where all four networks have coverage. So while T-Mobile looks great in these awards, they might not be the best option in your neck of the woods. Check out the full report at OpenSignal's website. Are you a happy T-Mobile customer?
