Amazon Alexa app update brings Alexa to your phone

Last year, the Huawei Mate 9 was the first Amazon Alexa-enabled phone. Alexa on phones works mostly the same way it does on the ultra-popular Echo devices. Not many other phones have picked up this feature, but it looks like that's about to change very soon.

An update is rolling out soon to the Alexa app that turns it into a full-fledged voice assistant. In other words, Alexa is finally in the Alexa app. Previously, the app was used to control Alexa devices, but now it actually has Alexa built-in. You'll see a new button that will activate Alexa. The app won't detect "Alexa" unless it's open on your phone.

Keep your eyes peeled for the update to be arriving in the next couple of days. Some users have already received it on their phone. If you're already in the Amazon ecosystem, this is a nice little addition.
