LG is in a bit of a state of flux at the moment as the company has reportedly scrapped its current plans for the LG G7, leaving the company without a flagship to unveil at MWC 2018. That gives Samsung more of the attention at the event, but a new rumor suggests LG will still have somewhat of a presence at the event.
The report claims that LG will be releasing a new version of the LG V30 at MWC 2018 named the "LG V30+'α',", with this version being more focused on AI than anything else. This device will be released in a partnership with Google as the upcoming device will include more features from Google Assistant, but specific details are scarce.
It's likely that this new V30 will feature many of the same specs of the version that was released back in August of last year. This means a 5.7-inch 18:9 display, along with the Snapdragon 835 chipset at the helm. Unfortunately, we'll just have to hang tight until February 26th when LG is expected to hold its press conference at MWC 2018.
We've seen other OEM's release slightly upgraded versions of devices a few months after the initial release, and if LG is moving away from the yearly release cycle, we could see more of this from LG. The most notable OEM who has been releasing slightly-enhanced versions of devices has been OnePlus who recently launched the OnePlus 5T which kept the same specs as the OnePlus 5, but included a new 18:9 display.
Let us know what you think about this report and if you would be interested in picking up a new version of the LG V30 if it actually comes to the US, or if you will just wait to see what LG's true 2018 flagship looks like.
