While 2017 was the year of dual-cameras and bezel-less designs, 2018 could be the year for either triple rear cameras or foldable displays. Over the last couple of years, we have seen some prototypes and patents showing that different OEM's are working on foldable smartphones.
One company, Samsung, has most notably been rumored for manufacturing the flexible Samsung Galaxy X. This device will feature a flexible display, and a new series of patents confirm that the display for this device will be pressure sensitive. The display itself would be somewhat flexible, making it possible for the software of the device to tell just how hard you are pressing on the display.
Previous patents from Samsung have shown that the Galaxy X could feature a design similar to that of the ZTE Axon M, which includes a foldable design and two displays that fold into one another. This means that you will be able to have your keyboard and tools on one of the displays, while the other display shows the content that you are working on.
Another great capability of having two displays is the fact that multi-tasking could be a real possibility, meaning you could be watching a video while typing something on Twitter or responding to an email. Dual-display devices are a real thing and are on the way, but it may be awhile before they hit the mainstream.
Would you be interested in a device like the Galaxy X, or are you good with just using a single display for everything? Let us know in the comments below.
