Earlier this year, ZTE sub-brand Nubia launched a new gaming smartphone in the form of the Nubia RedMagic 5G. What makes this phone particularly impressive is that it is the first smartphone in the world to sport a 144Hz refresh rate for its display. A 144Hz refresh rate is something we typically see in gaming monitors, so to see it on a phone is pretty wild.
Plus, it also trumps all other high-end flagships out there who, for the most part, top out at 120Hz.
Now in case the phone's design didn't already scream "gaming" to you, you might be interested to learn that Nubia has since announced a new "Hot Rod Red" edition of the phone. According to the company, this will give the phone a new red color scheme complete with yellow highlights, making it look kind of like a racing car, or as Nubia calls it, a "fast, speedster" look.
Only the color of the phone has changed and its internals remain completely the same. This includes the 6.65-inch 1080p OLED 144Hz display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB of storage, a 4,500mAh battery with 55W fast-charging, a triple camera setup on the back with a main 64MP sensor, and yes, as its name suggests, support for 5G connectivity.
Nubia has also announced that for the first 1,000 pre-orders, 1% of the sales of the phone will be donated to the Child's Play charity. The phone will be priced at $579 and pre-orders will begin on the 1st of June and will run until the 8th of June.
