HTC to unveil its first 2020 smartphone on June 16

It's official: HTC will unveil a new smartphone on June 16!

It wasn't too long ago that sentences like that were written on tech blogs across the web every month or two. Unfortunately, these days, it's a rare occurrence. The image below was shared to HTC's community site, teasing a June 16th launch of a new smartphone. While the image doesn't give away much, the outline of the device in the image does match up with previous leaks of the HTC Desire 20 Pro.

Based on previous leaks, the design of the HTC Desire 20 Pro is expected feature characteristics of the OnePlus 8 on the front and those of the Xiaomi Mi 10 on the back. As the Desire name implies the 20 Pro will be a mid-range device. While all the specifications of the phone are still unknown, the Google Play Console's Device Catalog has revealed that the smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 665 SoC with 6GB of RAM and a 1080 x 2340 display with a Pixel density of 400ppi. Based on those numbers, we can deduce that the HTC Desire 20 Pro will feature a 6.45-inch display.

The phone will also feature a quad-camera setup on the back of the phone, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack and will be running on Android 10.

The HTC Desire 20 Pro may not be the flagship device we've all been wanting to see from HTC, but it does look like a solid upgrade over last year's Desire 19+. If HTC manages to get the Desire 20 Pro to market for $300, it could be a great alternative to Motorola's budget-friendly G-series smartphones.
