Xiaomi Mi Watch walk-through: the best Android watch to date?

Let's be honest, the Wear OS watch experience is a bit mundane these days. Thanks to a new wave of devices from Fossil, there are a lot of options to choose from, but they're all running on nearly identical hardware and a generic implementation of Google's smartwatch operating system. When Xiaomi unveiled the new Mi Watch, we were intrigued. The company has a reputation for delivering high-quality products at low prices, but what makes the company's fir Android watch unique is the fact that it features a custom skin on top of Wear OS.

Looking at the Xiaomi Mi Watch, it's hard not to see the resemblance it shares with the Apple Watch. Xiaomi coped nearly every aspect of Apple's smartwatch design, down to the rotating crown on the right edge on the device. On the inside, the Mi Watch features a 570mAh battery, a 1.78-inch (368 x 448 pixels) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and NFC for digital payments. The watch also features eSIM support so that it can make calls and connect to the web without needing to be paired with a smartphone. And for fitness enthusiasts, the Mi Watch comes with GSP, a heart rate sensor and 5ATM water-resistance.

We have not had a chance to test the watch for ourselves, but the folks over at Beebom has published a first impressions video which shows off the phone's custom UI and its different features. Take a look at the video above.

The Xiaomi Mi Watch is currently only available in China, but you can import the watch for $260 (free shipping included).
