Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 confirmed to launch later this year

Last year, Samsung launched their first foldable smartphone with the Galaxy Fold. Earlier this year, the company followed up with another foldable handset in the form of the Galaxy Z Flip. We have also heard rumors that Samsung will not be stopping there, and could be planning a successor to the Galaxy Fold.

It turns out that the rumors were true because during Samsung's recent earnings call, the company has revealed that they are indeed planning to launch a new foldable phone later this year.

"Looking ahead to the second quarter … the company will continue to offer differentiated products in the premium segment with the launch of new foldable and Note models."

Samsung stops short of actually saying when the phone will be launched, so we'll just have to keep our eyes out for it. In the meantime we have also been hearing rumors that the handset could be priced slightly cheaper than its predecessor, where it could have $100 shaved off the price tag.

This is because according to the rumors, the Galaxy Fold 2 might launch with a base 256GB model instead of a 512GB model, thus making it slightly more affordable. Also, along with the Galaxy Fold 2, Samsung has also confirmed that a new Note handset will be dropping this year, which based on the Galaxy S20's branding, could be known as the Galaxy Note 20.
