LG teases a brand new design language for its future smartphones

Recently there was a rumor that suggested that LG was planning on killing off its G-series handset. The company issued a statement that did not seem to confirm nor deny the rumors, except to say that the company was working on something that they would be sharing very soon.

It looks like that time is here because LG has recently taken the wraps off a brand new design language that they will be adopting for its future handsets. From what we can tell from the drawings, LG seems to be choosing a more curved look for its smartphones, where the front display curves down the sides of the phone, while the back curves towards the front.

The design will also introduce what LG is calling a "Raindrop" camera which is LG's answer to the square camera modules we're seeing in today's smartphones. The company is instead choosing to put all three cameras on the back in descending order by size, which is why they are naming it the "Raindrop" camera. According to Cha Yong-duk, head of LG's Mobile Communications Design Lab:

"Our upcoming smartphone will draw on the rich history of classic LG designs which have always been distinctive at first touch. This handset will be a first-look at the competitive edge we will be bringing to every LG smartphone going forward."

Unfortunately, this still doesn't tell us what we can expect from the G-series, although as per the rumors, LG is apparently planning to replace it with a brand new lineup which presumably will be adopting this new design.
