Insta360 has announced on Twitter something new is coming on the 7th January 2020. The teaser video which includes horrifying scenes of an action camera, drone, "1 inch cam" and their very own insta360 One X being obliterated in a blender has beamed across the internet and is causing a storm. In the sfor video Insta360 display bold promises that their new product will combine all the aforementioned into one.
So, is this a subtle hint to prepare us for Insta360 entering the drone market in 2020? I guess we don't have long to wait until we find out. However with the ability to fly and shoot 360 footage simultaneously it will completely revolutionise modern drones reducing the need for cumbersome and fragile 3 axis gimbals that we already see on more popular drones, and which for many have been a weak breaking point when experiencing a bumpy landing. Insta360's fantastically stable flowstate video processing would definitely provide rock solid free capture video opportunities, something that many DJI users have been hacking over the years with 3D printed mounts and duct tape. This feature alone would ensure as a drone pilot you never miss the shot you were after and help conserve valuable flying time, without the need to retake shots.
This is exciting news for drone pilots, action camera and 360 photography enthusiasts alike. Stay tuned for more news as we learn what's coming from Insta360 in the next week, safe to safe we're excited to see what they have to offer.
