The Galaxy S10 and S10+ have been public knowledge for a few days now, which is enough time for DxOMark to have published an early look view at the device, and the results are promising.
The Galaxy S10 isn't set to release to the public until March 8, but pre-orders are open right now with a special offer for early buyers. The latest DxOMark results, which benchmark camera performance against a set of subjective tests to provide an overall rating, just might give consumers another reason to order it.
DxOMark used the Galaxy S10+ in its tests, but the S10 has the same triple camera module, so the score is inherited. The device achieved a score of 109, which some readers may recognize as the same score that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro was given, which was widely praised as the best camera on Android. Not only does the S10 match the Mate 20 Pro in camera performance, but the S10+ achieves a better front-facing selfie camera performance. The regular S10 will differ here since the S10+ features a dual front-facing camera. The score of 96 produced by the S10+ beats the 92 of the Pixel 3 and Note 9 to give an idea of comparative perspective.
The benchmark goes into great detail analyzing the pictures produced by the S10+, but in summary, you can expect a wide dynamic range, good exposure, and some excellent bokeh simulation. As far as video goes, the S10+ has excellent image stabilization and smooth framing but seems to be at the cost of sharpness.
One thing is for sure, if you care about mobile photography, then the Galaxy S10 and S10+ are best in class.
