If you need a laptop or tablet for work but don't think that Android will cut it and if you'd rather not get a Windows or iPad, then perhaps Chrome OS could be a worthy alternative. Designed to be relatively light-weight, Chrome OS is great for students who need something simple, and for those who aren't really looking for anything too complicated.
In fact, if you are in the market for a laptop or tablet, perhaps Google's Pixel Slate might be of interest to you. Designed as a Chrome OS tablet, the Pixel Slate was launched in the later part of last year where it was also launched alongside accessories such as a keyboard and stylus. This allows the device to transform from a tablet into a laptop.
Given that Chrome OS does support the running of Android apps, such devices could be considered to be the best of both worlds. The good news is that if the Pixel Slate sounds like an interesting tablet/laptop and you wouldn't mind checking it out, the entire lineup is currently enjoying a $200 discount across all models, bringing its base price down to $599.
The base model comes with an Intel Core m3 processor, 8GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 12.3-inch display. There are also Core i5 ($799 after a $200 discount) and Core i7 models ($1,399) to choose from and can be configured to up to 16GB of RAM. Note that this is only for the tablet and that the keyboard and stylus accessories will be sold separately.
