ASUS Zenfone 6 with dual-slider mechanism shown off in video

Last month thanks to renders shared on Twitter by Evan Blass, we got an idea of what kind of phone ASUS could be cooking up. Now, Blass was not explicit in his tweet about what phone it was, nor did he say it was an upcoming handset either. If anything, it sounded like it could be a concept design.

Now it turns out that the renders were actually a sign of things to come. In a new video uploaded onto YouTube by SupraPixel, he has managed to get his hands on more images of what is allegedly the ASUS Zenfone 6. ASUS has recently teased the launch of the upcoming handset and now based on these images, it seems that the phone could sport a dual-slider mechanism.

As we explained in our previous post, what this means is that users can choose to slide the phone upwards or downwards, where sliding it up will reveal a set of speakers at the bottom, while sliding it downwards will reveal the front-facing camera. It is actually a pretty smart idea, although we are a bit skeptical about the mechanism being sturdy enough where it won't accidentally slide out by itself while in our pockets or bags.

ASUS would not be the first to launch a slider smartphone as other companies have also attempted something similar. Samsung launched such a handset back in April in the form of the Galaxy A80 which featured a pretty crazy sliding and rotating camera design. The ASUS Zenfone 6 is expected to be announced next week, so do check back with us then for the official details.
