When it comes to set-top boxes, there are many to choose from, with Apple TV being a particularly popular choice, but if you'd rather not buy into Apple's ecosystem, NVIDIA's Shield TV is actually a pretty popular alternative. It has been a while since the company last updated its lineup, but it looks like they finally have where they are also introducing a new model.
Starting with the Shield TV, this will be the base model that NVIDIA will be offering to customers. For the most part, it is still very much the same Shield TV that many of us have come to know and love, but the most obvious difference would be its design, where the company has opted to make it a tubular-shaped device. It will also be cheaper where it is priced at $149.
Next would be the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro, which in terms of design, seems to have more in common with its predecessors, giving it a more console-like appearance. It will also support Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision HDR, an upgrade over previous Shield TV models. Both the Shield TV and Shield TV Pro will be powered by NVIDIA's Tegra X1+ chipset, but the Pro model will offer up slightly more RAM at 3GB and more storage at 16GB, versus the Shield TV which comes with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.
There is also the addition to two USB 3.0 ports on the Shield Pro which will give users more options when it comes to attaching accessories and peripherals. It will be priced slightly higher at $199. Both devices are also expected to come with the Shield TV Remote.
