One of the features of Android is that it lets users customize the phone to their liking, where if users wanted, they could use custom gestures to perform certain tasks that will make it easier and more intuitive for them. Unfortunately, come Android 10, it seems that those third-party navigation gestures might be harder to find.
This is according to the folks at 9to5Google, they have managed to get their hands on the latest Google Mobile Services agreement that OEMs will need to abide by. According to the agreement, it seems that Android devices that ship with GMS and uses Android 10 will need to include Android 10's new gestures or revert back to the classic three-button setup.
It also reveals that Google wants OEMs to hide their own gesture navigation systems. This means that out of the box and during the setup process, apparently OEMs are not allowed to advertise these custom navigation gestures and that they cannot be set as the default option.
What this means is that while they can still be present, they need to be enabled and that their settings will be hidden one layer deeper in the settings menu. While this does sound oppressive, it seems that Google is simply trying to unify the Android experience across the board, and due to the options being hidden deeper in the settings, there is a chance that some users might not even know it exists.
