Samsung will launch the Galaxy A8 (2018) lineup next month

A couple of days ago, we were surprised with an announcement of Samsung's latest mid-range devices with the Galaxy A8 (2018) lineup. However, while Samsung shared most of the details regarding the device, the company stopped short of providing pricing or availability information.

Earlier today, Samsung confirmed the release date for these devices and that will come on January 6th, 2018. Currently, this date is only confirmed for the Vietnamese launch, but since we know that the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) will be coming to other markets, we'll likely see releases in those regions in the first month of 2018.

European and Vietnamese pricing has been confirmed by Samsung already, with the Galaxy A8 (2018) set to cost €499 and ~$483, respectively. The Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) will cost €599 in Europe, and ~$593 in Vietnam.

As a reminder, the standard Galaxy A8 (2018) features a 5.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 2:1 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2220 x 1080. The device also features 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage. Finally, fast-charging returns to help keep your 3,000mAh battery powered up throughout the day.

When it comes to the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018), the device comes equipped with a larger 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with the same resolution of 2220 x 1080. We are also seeing either 4GB or a bump to 6GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage. Finally, Samsung has packed a larger 3,500mAh battery into the Plus version of the A8 (2018).

There are a few specs that can be found on both devices, and those include the Samsung Exynos 7885 octa-core processor. We also have dual front-facing cameras on both devices, with a primary 16MP sensor and a secondary 8MP sensor. As for the rear camera, Samsung has included the same 16MP sensor in both devices, which includes an aperture of f/1.7.

Pre-orders for these devices have already gotten underway in Vietnam, ahead of the January 6th release date. Unfortunately, Samsung stopped short of sharing any more information regarding other regions, but we are expecting to see a formal introduction of the Galaxy A8 (2018) lineup at CES 2018.
