HTC is opting to only release one flagship in 2018 with the U12 Plus

Yesterday, we got a pretty good look at one of HTC's upcoming devices with the HTC U12 Plus. The expectations were there to see a standard version of the U12, but it seems that won't be the case.

According to Evan Blass, HTC is opting to only release the U12 Plus, which will now act as the company's flagship. The device will feature a 6-inch LCD display while being powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset and 6GB of RAM.

We will also see a total of four different cameras on the U12. On the front, we will have dual 8MP cameras, while the rear will feature a 12MP sensor and 16MP sensor.

Unsurprisingly, the move comes after HTC has gone through a bit of turmoil in the last few months. The company completed the sale of the Pixel division to Google and has suffered through 10 consecutive quarterly losses.

While the U12 Plus is unlikely to dethrone the Galaxy S9, this could actually be the device that HTC hopefuls have been clamoring for. We'll have to see what the company brings to the table when the device is launched in either April or May.

Let us know what you think about the U12 Plus and if you think that it's a good idea that HTC only releases one flagship this year.
