October has been a busy month if you've been keeping a close eye on all the new smartphones that have been announced. The new OnPlus 6T may be the last new device we see this month, it's also one of the most compelling. All the basics of the OnePlus 6T are the same as the original OnePlus 6. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, you get 6 or 8GB of RAM, 128 or 256GB of storage, a 6.4-inch display and the same 16MP/20MP dual camera and 16MP front-facing camera that you get on the standard OnePlus 6.
But there are a few differences as well. The most noticeable is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. OnePlus has switched over to audio over USB-C, but the company claims to have a good reason. The port was removed to make room for a new 3,700 mAh battery which is 12% larger (I don't think anyone will be complaining about that) and to allow the display's bottom bezels to be reduced even further. OnePlus has also reduced the size of the notch on the top of the display, making it one of the best-looking notches we've seen to date. The final tweak is the new in-display fingerprint sensor which replaces the rear-mounted sensor on the OnePlus 6. Unfortunately, the phone doesn't have an official IP dust and water resistance rating and wireless charging is nowhere to be found.
Naturally, all these minor tweaks are also accompanied by a bump in price. The base model OnePlus 6T with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs $549. While that's lower than pretty much any other flagship device on the market, it is $20 more than the OnePlus 6. If you want 8GB of RAM with the same amount of storage, you'll pay $579 and 256GB of storage with 8GB of RAM will cost you $629.
The OnePlus 6T goes on sale November 1 through the company's website, but US customers will also be able to purchase the phone directly from T-Mobile. OnePlus has sold its phone through several service providers in Europe on the past, but this is the first time that it has managed to snag support from a US service provider. T-Mobile is also throwing in a $300 discount if you trade in any OnePlus smartphone when you purchase the OnePlus 6T.
