OnePlus TV will feature 8 speakers with Dolby Atmos, could be best-sounding TV of the decade

The OnePlus TV will be unveiled later this month, but details of the device are slowly making their way into the wild. The latest bit of information regards the audio capabilities of the TV. According to 9to5Google, an Amazon listing for the OnePlus TV shows that it will feature a total of 8 speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a total output of 50 watts with 3-dimensional surround sound.

While most decent soundbars offer at least 100 Watt total output, most modern TVs typically have only 2 speakers with less than 20-watt audio output. On top of the extra power, the OnePlus TV will also feature "punchy bass to fill your living room," something that is sorely lacking from most TVs. 

The price of the OnePlus TV is still up in the air at this point, but the company's created its reputation on delivering phenomenal devices at price points which are dramatically lower than those of its competitors. The smart TV market is pretty crowded and there are a lot of great devices which are fairly cheap, so it will be interesting to see where the OnePlus TV lands. If users won't need to spend an extra $200 on a speaker system for the TV, OnePlus could get away with charging a bit of a premium for it.

Samsung to launch 6.7-inch flip style, foldable smartphone next year

The Samsung Galaxy Fold has yet to be launched and as such, no one really knows how well the phone will do, or if the market is ready for such devices. That being said, it seems that regardless of the outcome, Samsung could be pushing ahead with the technology all the same.

This is according to a report from Bloomberg who claims that the South Korean tech giant has plans to launch a new foldable phone in early 2020. The publication claims that the device will feature a 6.7-inch display that will have a folding design reminiscent of the flip phone, where upon being folded shut, it will sport a square-shaped design.

If you're wondering why this sounds familiar, it is because recently there were some patents filed by Samsung that revealed a design that is exactly as described in Bloomberg's report. Given that it was a patent, there was no telling if it would be made a reality, but this new report certainly lends some credence to that.

This would not be the first time we're hearing about such a design, where previously it was suggested that Samsung might want to take on Motorola with a flip-style foldable phone of their own. Take this report with a grain of salt as we still have quite some ways to go before 2020.

Google rolling out new Street View layer for mobile

Street View has long been a feature on Android phones, available with a tap from many a location. It's a great way to check out the surroundings of a specific address, but it's not easy to just explore various streets straight from the map view.

This is unlike the desktop site, where there's a street view button that shows every street that has the street view. And let's be honest with ourselves; we've all gone on a Street View exploration spree.

Thankfully Google is fixing this with a new layer. When you hit the layer button in the top right, you'll soon see a "Street View" layer that will show every street that can be explored from the ground. Tapping on a street will bring you directly into Street View.

While not everyone has this feature right now, a few people are already seeing it roll out to their devices. It's likely a server-side rollout rather than an app update. If you're interested in checking it out, boot up Google Maps and see if you have the new layer. If not, you should get it relatively soon.

Samsung Galaxy S11 could come with a ‘never been seen before’ camera

When it comes to performance on smartphone cameras, Samsung has never disappointed. Its Galaxy S-series and Galaxy Note-series have always set the benchmarks for how a smartphone's camera should perform, and year after year, the company has managed to impress.

Now according to a tweet by leakster Ice Universe, it seems that Samsung could have something revolutionary for next year's Galaxy S11. The tweet suggests that the company could be working on "never been seen before" camera system. Apparently, this will be such a big deal that the leakster is actually advising would-be Note 10 customers to skip the phone in favor of the Galaxy S11.

Ice Universe does not dive into the details about the upcoming phone, but last we heard, the Galaxy S11 could come with cameras that utilize Samsung's new 48MP and 64MP ISOCELL sensors. While the megapixel upgrade is pretty impressive, we're not sure if that could be considered as a "never been seen before" feature.

At this point in time, bumping the megapixels and adding more lenses seems more like an evolution and less of a revolution. We're not sure what kind of changes Samsung could be working on, but we'll have to wait until next year to find out. In the meantime, perhaps it's best to temper your expectations.

Samsung Galaxy A90 5G is a 5G smartphone with an affordable price tag

With 5G being relatively new technology, it's not surprising that the majority of phone makers want to include it in their flagship smartphones as one of its selling points. This also means that getting your hands on a 5G smartphone at the moment will not come cheap, but that's a problem that Samsung is looking to solve.

The company has recently announced their latest mid-range phone part of the Galaxy A series in the form of the Galaxy A90 5G. While the Galaxy A series is usually a mid-range lineup, the Galaxy A90 5G actually packs some pretty decent hardware.

This includes the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6-8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. There will also be a 6.7-inch 1080p OLED screen accompanying the handset, a triple camera setup on the back with a 48MP + 8MP + 5MP combination, a 32MP front-facing camera, a 4,500mAh battery, and of course, 5G.

While pricing of the phone has yet to be officially confirmed, as we said, the Galaxy A-series tends to be more on the affordable side, so there is a chance that it will not break the bank. It will be launching in South Korea first, but there is no word on when it will eventually find its way stateside.
