OnePlus is set to announce the OnePlus Nord at an upcoming event on the 21st of July. The handset in question is widely expected to be a mid-ranger device that will see OnePlus return to its more budget-friendly roots, but what exactly will be handset be packing under the hood?
Thanks to a tweet by @evleaks, we might have an idea as to what we might be able to expect from it. This includes:
- 6.44-inch 1080 x 2400 Fluid AMOLED display
- 90Hz refresh rate
- 408 PPI
- 8GB/12GB RAM configurations
- 128GB/256GB storage options
- Dual front-facing cameras 32MP + 8MP
- Quad rear-facing cameras 48MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP
- 4,115mAh battery with 30W fast charging
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset
- Support for 5G
- Fingerprint scanner
- Blue Marble, Gray Onyx, Gray Ash finish options
Said by a tipster to come from a virtual Nord training presentation, this lines up quite well with what we already know (save for the phone imagery, which is an obvious placeholder). Let the debunking begin! pic.twitter.com/pA5N4oxJOF

There was no mention of pricing, but last we heard, the handset could be priced at $499 or possibly lower. While still not as cheap as the original OnePlus One from way back in the day, it does make it more affordable than the OnePlus 8. We suppose that's not really a fair comparison given the difference in specs, but if you don't need to have the latest or best hardware, this sounds like a pretty good deal.
That being said, OnePlus will have quite stiff competition moving forwards with the OnePlus Nord. Apple's iPhone SE seems to be very well-received, and last we heard, Google is preparing the Google Pixel 4a that could be even cheaper than the iPhone SE, so it looks like OnePlus has their work cut out for them.
